SAIC is looking for a Server Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Lead located at Scott Air Force Base (AFB), IL.

Job Description:

The Server Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Lead is responsible for systems administration, operations, maintenance, and support for all USTRANSCOM networks. O&M shall include servers (physical and virtual), firmware, operating systems, software applications, SANs, and computer security compliance. A robust server maintenance capability ensures that key and supporting services provided to the end user are reliable and available.


The Task Lead for Server Operation and Maintenance should have the following qualifications and demonstrated experience:
- Current MS Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification (other certifications desired)
- Demonstrated experience providing overall enterprise-level network system administration, planning, and management
- High degree of technical expertise with systems, servers, protocols, Windows/PC based client/server workstations and Server Administration.
- Oversees and implements system upgrade strategies
- Leads the design, implementation and maintenance of highly complex solutions
- Coordinates other activities with other technical personnel
- Conducts capacity planning reviews with management and approves capacity plans formulated by junior personnel
- Technical Level II certification per DoDi 8570
- Designing, managing, monitoring, and optimizing geographically dispersed networked systems
- Supervising system administrators
- Project management
- Currently possess and maintain ITIL V3 or 2011 certification
- Performing O&M and installing upgrades
- Developing, implementing, and documenting network systems
- Experience and/or working knowledge with the following:

- VMware ESXi and View

- MS Windows Server 2008, Active Directory, Exchange 2010, Outlook, System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM)

- SiteMinder

The minimum skills and experience/working knowledge required:
- NIST and DoD security policies, directives, and guidelines
- Network/system architecture design and implementation
- Microsoft, UNIX and RHEL server operating system (OS) security configurations
- Server security configurations (Microsoft, UNIX, RHEL)
- Network architecture and design (e.g., security stack and integration with office automation products and services to include production, test, development, and demilitarized zone (DMZ) enclaves).
- VMware ESXi functionality and security
- Border device security (e.g., firewall, VLANs, IP Subnetting, Ports and protocols)
- Encryption standards
- Host Based Security System (HBSS) operations and monitoring
- Auditing (e.g., system accounts, security logs, system and network anomalies)
- Security Metrics – capture & documentation
- Ensures DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) configurations are applied to Servers
- Ensures release package deployments, patch management, and IAVM vulnerability patching is applied as needed
- Technical writing – technical documents and user training materials

- Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university
- Have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience, with at least four (4) of those involving application of DoD policy, direction, and guidance to customer environments
- Minimum DOD 8140/DOD 8570 IAT Level II Certification
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communications skills.
- Work Location: The United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) located at Scott Air Force Base (AFB), IL
