The Statistician provides statistical test and evaluation Subject Mater Expertise (SME) support to AFIT OSD Scientific Test and Analysis Techniques (STAT) in Test & Evaluation (T&E) Center of Excellence (COE). The Statistician provides support in the areas of applied statistics and DoD acquisition for research, education and training, and consulting mission to advance workforce capabilities in scientific test and evaluation. Responsibilities include:

- Supporting development of case studies that include the methodical capturing of methodologies derived from the supported statistical T&E acquisition support, compiling these methodologies, disseminating these methodologies in the form of written products through the STAT T&E COE. Present case studies to the Director, STAT T&E COE or their designated representative no later than the last day of the quarter.
- Capturing recurring difficulties and their resolution actions derived from the supported statistical T&E acquisition support, compiling these lessons learned, disseminating these lessons learned in the form of written products through the STAT T&E COE.
- Capturing best practices derived from the supported statistical T&E acquisition support, compiling these practices, disseminating these practices in the form of written products through the STAT T&E COS. Presenting best practice reports to the Director, STAT T&E COE or their designated representative.
- Respond to questions from DAU’s “Ask A Professor” on scientific and statistical rigor in TEMP development and assist in the development of DAU training material.
- Author or co-author on submission to peer-reviewed archival journals.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Experience with DoD T&E planning, execution, and assessment; statistical expertise; and access to the research communities.

Journeyman (multiple positions): A Master’s degree with 3 or more years of experience in statistics, operations research, or related discipline (or a Bachelor’s Degree with 5 or more years of experience).

Senior (multiple positions): A Master’s degree with 10 or more years of experience in statistics, operations research, or related discipline (or a Bachelor’s Degree with 12 or more years of experience).

Subject Matter Expert: A Master’s degree with 15 or more years of experience in statistics, operations research, or related discipline (or a Bachelor’s Degree with 17 or more years of experience).

Required Skills: In-depth knowledge of experimental design, analysis, application, and techniques along with statistical techniques. In-depth knowledge and experience of weapon systems test and evaluation, possess a technical. T&E Level 3 or equivalent and 5 years’ experience with a major program, possess the ability to facilitate simultaneous collaboration with several acquisition programs in assisting T&E leads with developing the program’s test & evaluation master plan, execution of testing, and analysis of results, possess superior communications skills. Ability to mentor, coach, and lead other T&E professionals. Ability to use statistical software. Ability to communicate clearly and expertly (in English) in both verbal and written forms concerning administrative, and technical subject matters.
