About the Position:
Finance Operations, Senior Analyst, Regulatory Accounting Support is responsible for providing regulatory support by reviewing and responding to data requests and completing pre-filing discovery responses. Reviews financial reports and provides recommendations on reporting book entries to identify regulation implications. Reports to the Manager, Regulatory Accounting Support, and maintains an up to date asset and liability catalog and develops regulatory asset/liability calculations.
Position Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
Supports the coordination and preparation of information for compliance filings.
Responsible for supporting the response to data request and to support regulator commentaries, re-hearings and filings in coordination with legal and Regulatory and Pricing.
Completes and updates maintenance of regulatory accounting documentation.
Executes finance activities received by state regulatory agencies.
Monitors financial regulatory compliance to ensure filings and requirements filed timely.
Performs regulatory asset and liability calculations and maintains general ledger.
Reviews deferral variances by working with accounting and adhering to US GAAP and SOX guidelines.
Assists Manager, Regulatory Support by collecting supporting documentation for the use between NGUSA, regulators and external auditors.
Monitors compliance with implementation plan and provides ongoing quarterly updates.
Coordinates development of implementation plans and files with regulators.
Supports the update of systems to capture evolving regulatory information, as needed to support filings.
Responsible for supporting financial and non-financial controls to meet business requirements.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience Required:
Knowledge & experience in the following areas is preferable:
Regulatory compliance.
Regulatory filings.
Compliance and implementation.
US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley.
Process Management.
Close processes.
Risk mitigation.
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s Degree (accounting or finance preferred).
3+ years’ experience in accounting roles with increasing responsibility.
Knowledge of general ledger platforms and accounting system experience.
Knowledge of general accounting or related specialized accounting discipline.
Experience working across department and geographic boundaries to lead risk mitigation, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the COSO Internal Control – Integrated Framework.
Background in utility service business activities and projects.
Experience reviewing and resolving data discrepancies.
Able to assess accounting issues and recommend solutions.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent written / oral communication skills, follow-up, and negotiation skills.
