DEPARTMENT: GSE, Project Engineering & Design - NE Complex
BAND/GRADE: Band E/F (Commensurate with experience and level of education/certification)
REPORTS TO: PE&D Manager
Responsible for developing design drawings and performing design related activities for complex capital gas projects. Projects include gas gate stations, regulator stations, distribution mains, transmission mains, LNG and CNG.
Majority of design work is mechanical, but does include the associated SCADA instrumentation and minor civil and electrical details.
Assist project engineer in the development of detailed mechanical design for complex gas projects. Drawings include P&ID’s, general layout, plan and profiles, fabrication drawings, isometric drawings, pipe support details, etc. Develop and maintain standards for typical tasks.
Prepare typical electrical drawings for field mounted and panel mounted instruments and controls, including pressure and temperature transmitters, control valves, controllers, I/Ps, data recorders, and flow meters. Develop instrumentation installation drawings applying appropriate instrumentation details for mechanical cabinets and piping layouts.
Prepare minor civil drawings for equipment foundations, buildings, etc.
Check drawings, specifications, and bills of material from contractors and manufacturers. Enforce drawing standards across all projects and manage electronic project documentation and storage.
Prepare material lists, assist in material procurement, coordinate with equipment suppliers, and provide information to support cost estimating. Assist in material verification.
Assist project engineer in development of construction work packages (development and compilation of drawings, forms, maps, records, etc).
Provide support during construction and start-up of projects. Assist in development of as-built records for existing facilities and capital projects.
-High School Diploma or equivalent required.
-Associates Degree Preferred
-Minimum of three years practical experience preferred.
-American Design Drafting Association, AutoDesk and/or SolidWorks certifications preferred.
-Excellent design skills utilizing AutoCAD are required.
-Previous gas design experience and knowledge of gas equipment preferred.
-Proficient communication skills and the ability to interface with others through all phases of a project.
-Knowledge of Federal DOT, Massachusetts State Codes, and applicable industry codes/standards preferred.
