As Senior Principal Systems Engineer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing infrastructure services in a virtualized environment in a distributed IT environment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Engineering, documenting, delivering and maintaining a VMware server infrastructure providing virtualized desktops servers in accordance with customer specifications and security guidelines
Engineering, documenting, and providing hardware recommendations for storage, compute, and networking components to support the virtualized environment
Engineering, documenting, and providing software recommendations for services, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and PKI, to support the virtualized environment
Engineering, documenting, and providing recommendations for efficient management of the hardware, software, and services, supporting the virtualized environment, including the development of capacity management plans and implementing tools and techniques to implement the capacity management plan
Experience in application virtualization, software packaging, automation scripting and across-the-wire enterprise system and application deployments
Diagnosing and resolving the toughest performance, security, and/or technical challenges related to desktop support and deployments
Writing implementation and design documents describing how security features are implemented
Participating in processes throughout all phases of ITIL Service Lifecycle
Providing IT Systems and Applications Engineering support for a large distributed IT infrastructure working within the Applications Management division.
Performing requirements analysis, design, and integration for complex software application environments and collaboration infrastructures.
Providing direction and guidance to less experienced systems engineers.
Responsibile for investigating and resolving operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel.
Providing IT Systems Engineering support on a wide range of technologies, including: Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Internet Information Services, Microsoft SQL Server, Service Now, Symantec Management Platform, Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Adobe Acrobat, InTrust, Lumension Endpoint Security, customer line-of-business applications, and others.
Other tasks to include requirements specification, performance modeling, end-to-end functional analysis, cost estimation, and joint application design.
Working on project teams responsible for engineering and packaging releases to integrate within the customer's production IT environment.
Requires Bachelor's degree or ten to twelve years of related experience.
Knowledge of Server, Desktop and Application virtualization, networking, SANs, Microsoft Windows systems and desktop and thin client hardware.
CISSP or equivalent required (must be at least DoD 8570 IAT Level II certified)
MCSE - Microsoft Certified System Engineer – Desktop Infrastructure Solutions Expert (2008 products or later)
Enterprise virtualization experience with VMware certification (certifications beyond VCP preferred
Capability to express project plans within Microsoft Project
Capability to express project plans within Microsoft Project and management team members to complete the plans
Security Requirements: Top Secret required with SCI eligibility
