Transportation Carrier Management will lead the optimization of strategic and tactical transportation policies and procedures across all channels, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy. Responsible to purchase and contract all domestic and international transportation services to meet SHC and customer business needs. This role will also ensure a mutually beneficial partnership with our transportation carriers while achieving established annual service and cost objectives. This will be accomplished through the strategic development and relationship for carrier partners. Position will serve as the Commercial representative that will be responsible for all contracts, rate, onboarding, and issue resolution. This position is closely aligned with the operations team for carrier strategy, network strategy changes and escalated issue resolution.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate Transportation carrier contracts as assigned, including rates, level or service and liability
  • Provide contract administration for all Transportation Services
  • Maintain a strong relationship with carriers that will foster long-term partnership
  • Supervise the Carrier Quality Program
  • Conduct all transportation negotiations including selection of carrier candidates, negotiation tools, analysis of results and present findings and recommendation to the executive review board.
  • Determine carrier health, including financial status, performance, and carrier strategies for consideration to participate in our partnership program
  • Integrate transportation services into the logistics pipeline strategy
  • Promote consistency of transportation strategies across all channels
  • Serve as carrier advocate within SHC, close alignment with transportation operations
  • Fully knowledgeable of the industry, including current trends. risks, opportunities and impact assessments
  • Project management / communication skills
  • Follow procurement guidelines and contract management protocol as required
