Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Independently collate and analyze work unit and/or financial data within one or multiple areas using pre-determined tools, methods and formats in order to support the department's decision making process.
Work closely with Program Manager, Stakeholders, and Process Owners to deliver up-to-date financial and work units' results on a monthly basis as the foundation for accurate forecasting as a means for budget adherence and optimization of both financial and contractor resources.
Respond to internal and external customer requests regarding analysis and development of data.
Monitor and review financial information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information.
Perform research on data discrepancies between financial results and project and cost allocations, and communicate them to the Finance Department and Process Owners to perform remediation.
Build upon technical/professional skills within own area of specialism or of other processes in order to continually grow your personal contribution to the business.
Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid.
Prepare various reports including but not limited to construction work units completed and associated capital spend, contractor productivity, and construction best practice analysis.
Serve as the Program Manager's right hand in work units and financial information retrieval, analysis, and delivery to interested parties.
Create and run relational database queries (i.e. MS Access).
Knowledge & Experience Required:
A Bachelor's degree in a related area (Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or Construction/Project Management) and 5 to 10 years of related experience, or equivalent work experience. An advanced degree/credits is preferred. Experience in Project Controls is highly desirable.
Strong financial background.
Experience in and ability to excel in a process focused environment and meet multiple overlapping delivery deadlines. Effective multi-tasking is a must.
Proven track record of delivering high quality and accurate financial and operational reporting
Able to identify data inconsistencies/issues and follow through to resolution, inclusive of stakeholder engagement, in a timely and coherent manner.
Continuous Improvement mindset as part of everyday work life.
Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation. Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation.
Ability to gain knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices.
Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Experience and proficiency in relevant company related IT systems, such as SAP, PowerPlan, MAXIMO, and SAP HANA preferred.
Able to analyze multiple sources of data and sees multiple relationships between those sources of data, identifying several likely causes or consequences of financial/project information.
Uses direct persuasion to influence others, using basic data, logic or a solid business case when responding to requests from customers.
Takes personal responsibility for correcting problems promptly and professionally communicates customer expectations to monitor delivery and satisfaction.
