Senior Systems Administrator
CGI Federal, Government Secure Solutions, is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator to immediately join our team in Ft. Meade, MD. The ideal candidate will be responsible for highly complex assignments associated with controlling computer operating systems. Supervises the daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems. Optimizes system operation and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning. Provides assistance to users in accessing and using business systems. Sets up and maintains computer system such as Open VMS Systems/DSM environments, UNIX systems (SCO and SUN), and Windows NT systems
Summary of Position and Duties:
Executes a variety of highly complex assignments associated with controlling computer operating systems. Supervises the daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems. Optimizes system operation and resource utilization, and performs system capacity analysis and planning. Provides assistance to users in accessing and using business systems. Sets up and maintains computer system such as Open VMS Systems/DSM environments, UNIX systems (SCO and SUN), and Windows NT systems. Analyzes system faults and troubleshoots and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems. Evaluates and installs developed software during various phases of testing. Coordinates the remote testing of products in other areas. Reviews and prepares documentation for systems, tests and installation of software. Investigates and recommends methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Initiates preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as repair to system/environment problems. Administers systems/environment solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules which are critical to the success of programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
? Organizes and directs the configuration and operation of information management systems
? Provides the day-to-day system administration to include system and resource optimization, and user assistance
? Conducts capacity and performance analysis, and provides system configuration change and upgrade recommendations
? Increases system administrator efficiency and accuracy via the use of automated tools and scripts, develops system administrator procedures, and conducts system administrator training and skills assessment
? Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities and programming techniques and controls
?Manages the daily activities of configuration and operation of systems and performs system capacity analysis and planning:
? Maintains servers, creates monitoring reports and logs, and ensures functionality of system links
? Monitors systems for acceptable performance and user accessibility, establishes back-ups, and monitors systems security
? Supervises technical staff; develops and coordinates project directions and schedules to maximize benefits and minimize impacts on the customer organization
? Performs multiple tasks concurrently and responds to emergency situation effectively
? Minimum six years of system administrator experience
? Minimum of High School Diploma
? Minimum DOD 8140/DOD 8570 IAT Level I Certification
? Minimum TS/SCI clearance, preferably CI polygraph
? Minimum six years of experience as system administrator
? Any of the following certs (A+, Network+, SSCP, CCNA Security, GSEC, Security+, CISA, GCIH, GCID, CISSP, CASP)
? Willing to work at Ft. Meade
