Position Description

The Senior Fleet Analyst is responsible for performing research and analytical work, particularly in the areas of cost management, vehicle replacement schedules, performance benchmarking, action plan tracking, and fleet driver/split seat operations staffing requirements. Duties also include: reporting the ongoing effectiveness driver score cards, maintenance procedures, fleet replacement policies and strategies by using cost accounting methods, and developing justification and documentation for user rate recommendations. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to, analysis and development of productivity measurements to simplify and/or improve processes, determining performance standards by tracking and trending production data, and conducting operations and vehicle fleet cost and usage rate analyses. This position is accountable for utilizing computerized management reports from the Telogis telematics software, fleet information management systems to prepare written recommendations to improve workload balancing, optimization and increase various process efficiencies. The Fleet Analyst conducts fleet analyses and special studies to implement quality service and operational improvements. Assignments may be comprehensive and complex, and require substantial research and analysis. Assignments are generally in the form of broad outlines of desired results and objectives, outlining the project, and providing general guidance.


Evaluation and development of Load Planning related strategies:
• Work cross functionally to gather and input data for newly established fleet and dedicated lanes and operational foot print
• Maintain customer, user, and fleet data across multiple enterprise data systems
• Ensure the accuracy of data relating to multiple business processes, both internally and at customer sites
• Develop internal an dedicated fleet efficiency score cards utilizing data from telematics software, continuous process improvement (CPI) with fine tuning parameters to fit business model improvements
• Lead and Assist in the definition and implementation of enhanced business processes and operational changes involving cross functional collaboration, training, implementation and success measurement and adaption
• Communicate effectively and be comfortable requesting information from colleagues and customers.
• Understand complex relationships between data systems, and explain them to people with limited technical understanding
• Effectively present information and analysis, and respond to questions from groups of managers.
• Recognize confidential, sensitive, and proprietary information and maintain such information as confidential
• Support our Business Intelligence and Reporting program
• Analyze supply chain, transportation and distribution network in order to develop recommendations for reducing freight costs, creating material efficiencies, and improving on-time delivery
• Review Oracle Transportation Management System (OTM) optimization solution and makes changes as necessary
• Partner with development team on system recommendations to enhance operational processes
• Manage Oracle Transportation Management System (OTM) per shift to maximize loads for internal and dedicated fleet
• Proactively identify cost savings opportunities for CarMax’s Corporate Logistics
• Formulate prescriptive methodologies to enhance Internal and Dedicated Fleet optimization > 98%
Functional Development:
• Actively engage with increasing proficiency levels with Core Competency Model
• Actively learn all functions of Corporate Logistics
• Promote team work, maintain professionalism
Internal Load Planner Management:
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in time sensitive situations in a fast paced environment
• Researches to minimize delivery cost and maximize customer satisfaction
• Communicate with brokers and Region / Area Managers on service requests and issues
• Providing detailed instruction to various personnel via email and phone
• Scheduling loads and providing excellent customer service
• Complying with instructions to ensure accuracy
• Communicating with Associates from other shifts
• Completing daily logs and trackers
• Ability to handle rate negotiations with carriers on a spot rate basis
• High sense of urgency and exception management tracking shipments to ensure on time delivery is met
• Other projects and task as assigned by Sr. Transportation Operation Manager

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business or Supply Chain Management preferred
• Two (2) years plus experience working with a Transportation Management System (Oracle, SAP or JDA) preferred
• Ability to manage multiple task and prioritize in-time sensitive situations in a fast paced environment
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Advanced desktop computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook required
• Strong customer focus, ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with cross-functional teams
• Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment , strong organizational skills
• Team player with flexibility in working different shifts
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to learn and regularly operate various computer system across different platforms
• Ability to travel as necessary (20%)
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays when corporate schedule demands
