PURPOSE The Project Manager is responsible for managing all phases of assigned projects. Coordination and communication with Sales and Sterling shop support . Supervision and evaluation of Shop Team, workflow (including scheduling), productivity, efficiency, quality, safety and delivery of Sterling products and services.

LOCATION Main Office, McCormick Blvd, Columbus, Ohio and other locations as assigned

(What you must do consistently in this position in order for it to be successful.)
• On time delivery of exceptional quality products and customer service to all shop customers, both internal and external
• Supervisory knowledge and experience with performance evaluation, disciplinary action, and training.
• Experience managing people and projects for peak performance.
• Timely completion of projects.
• Accurately track labor hours on each job and make appropriate adjustments for continued improvements.
• Reworks kept to a minimum. Analysis and communication of why there were reworks and how it could be avoided in the future.
• On time delivery and/or installation of company products and services.
• Conduct after-project reviews.
• Budget and cost controls.
• Quality assurance control. Assure all projects meet company and customer standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Management, Sales, Engineering, and Shop
• Effective communication of all project details to Operations Manager, Shop Supervisor, and Engineering.

I. Project management with customer and Sterling office.
A. Coordination with Engineering department for necessary help and information.
B. Coordination with Purchasing department for necessary materials.
C. Pre-project kickoff meeting with operations; engineering; purchasing and sales.
D. Initial project walk-through and understanding with customer and Shop Supervisor.
E. Consistent customer coordination and communication of job progress; scheduling changes, and delays
F. Review all pertinent reports, invoices and job costs with accounting department.
G. Make continuous improvements and enhancements in all relevant business processes, to achieve increases in productivity and efficiency.
H. Lead post mortem reviews on projects, with all relevant stakeholders (Project Managers, Shop Supervisor, Engineering Manager, Production Manager, shop personnel) to assure mistakes are corrected and successes are recognized.

II. Coordinate schedule for work assignments and workflow
A. Assist with scheduling
B. Ensure complete designs and details for Shop Team
C. Ensure necessary materials are ordered for work assignments.
D. Ensure all necessary materials are delivered timely.
E. Be available to answer questions from Shop Team.

A. Distribute, track progress, and review all incoming bid/quote requests.
B. Motivating Shop Team Members.
C. Initiate disciplinary action and negotiations with Shop Supervisor and Shop Team when necessary.
D. Assist in yearly performance evaluations for Team Members, with the input and help from other Project Managers.

V. General Office Duties

A. Maintain files and drawings for all internal and external customers.

VII. Other duties as assigned.

• Being positive and motivating in your dealings with all team members & customers.
• Ensure field team is scheduled appropriately.
• Actual hours versus estimated field hours should not exceed 4%.
• Customer rejects and reworks should be below 2% of the total amount of the contract for dollars and hours.
• 100 % on-time delivery and/or installation.
• After project reviews are conducted, planned improvements are reported to President and Operations Manager and placed into action.
• Meets assigned responsibilities per job description.

• Minimum 5 years field experience in process piping and systems for the food manufacturing industry.
• Must be able to read blueprints and negotiate with engineering on design concerns.
• Must be able to provide quotes and sketches to customers as necessary.
• Must be able to develop isometric drawings for field installation.
• Must be able to work as a positive team member, with professional negotiation skills.
• Must be able to work in a multi-task environment with interruptions.
• Supervision experience.
• Creative problem solving ability.
• Self-starter with limited supervision required.
• Quality Control re: welding, installation standards, customer specifications.
• Drivers License and knowledge of welding and forklift operations standards
• Knowledge of OSHA and general safety standards.
• Intermediate computer skills with spreadsheets.
• Basic Working Knowledge of Word Processing Software
• Basic Working Knowledge of E-mailing (Outlook) Software
• Scheduling Software- MS Project
• Automatic Orbital Welding System- Set up and trouble shoot
• Global Shop Solutions
• Estimating programs
• Basic viewing and printing ACAD skills
• Multi-task oriented.
