Job Title:  Manager, Customer Insights & Analytics (Wal-Mart Category Advisor)

Department/Function:  Market Development

Reports to title: Sr. Manager, Customer Insights & Analytics

Career level: 21

% Travel:  Between 5% and 25%

 Position summary:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager  of Customer Insights & Analytics, the positions principal objectives are  to provide actionable insights, improve customer MAPS  (Merchandising, Assortment, Pricing, Shelving.  The position offers a unique experience not found in any other sales function.



  • Identifies customer level growth and profit opportunities through data analysis
  • Provides un-biased holistic category opportunities from multiple sources of data (Syndicated/Scanned/ Consumer )
  • Drives category and brand performance with our customers
  • Leverages external vendors (Nielsen)  for completion of analytic research
  • Drives usage and improvement of Data Reporting Tools
  • Works on complex opportunities and issues to develop win/win scenarios for ConAgra and the retailer
  • Build standard POG as well as multiple cut-backs in space management software tracking  share of  linear and assortment by segmentations
  • Provide leadership on the analytical approach within CIA and the broader organization


Qualifications, Education & Experience:

  • A University Degree. An MBA is an asset
  • 4-6 years of experience in the CPG industry, with shelf management and analytics focus
  • Strong familiarity with the Canadian market place and the dynamic that exists between brands, retailers and consumers.
  • Strong analytical skills and a high level of competency with market models, consumer research, and customer databases.
  • Communication skills - the incumbent will require strong written & verbal communication skills, along with a persuasive, tactful presenting style that teaches, aligns and facilitates discussion
  • Nielsen, Retailer Portal system experience and strong excel capability
  • Planogramming software experience
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities while consistently meeting deadlines
  • Ability to be self motivated and work independently
