Job Summary
Responsible for sanitation requirements for machinery, equipment and facilities. Develops and maintains plant sanitation programs and procedures. Collaborates with engineers, suppliers, contractors and plant partners to ensure a clean and sterile facility. Assures compliance with regulatory agencies in regard to sanitation requirements and the use of cleaning and exterminating agents. Responsible for managing and owning various functions of the business and creating an engaged and team oriented work force in order to improve business results. 1 year related experience.

Sylvester Sanitation Leads have the responsibilities for shift coordination of high-performance work teams including but not limited to assigning and directing employees within their assigned shifts.  Sanitation Leads provide decision making including safety, HACCP/Quality, and timely and accurate reporting of sanitation performances.  This position is responsible for timely, effective, and accurate communication between shift team Leads/members, operations, maintenance and management.  The Leads will immediately report and escalate to Management any situation as it relates to employee safety, food safety, and production performance.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to develop working knowledge of production equipment, quality requirements.
  • Strong understanding of SQF and CAG Quality Requirements to sustain compliance and state of audit readiness
  • Strong understanding of proactive versus reactive management systems.
  • Must be proficient with computer programs – Microsoft Office (intermediate Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook)
  • Ability to learn and accurately interact in SAP – enter work orders, work requests, order supplies, etc.
  • Basic understanding of sanitation principles and cleaning chemistry
  • Demonstrated history of pro-active work ethic
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work in and lead a team environment
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Positive team player
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical and decision-making ability
  • Ability to easily relate & communicate effectively with all team members within the department as well as other departments
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work overtime and adjust work schedules on an as needed basis
  • Fork truck license


Essential Job Functions: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily).


  • Accountable for the performance results and capability of their crew.  Efficient scheduling to manage overtime and completion of daily tasks.
  • Responsible for Food Safety and Quality
  • Responsible for managing cost pertaining to Sanitation supplies
  • Sanitation program review. 
    • Schedule, track and trend Master Sanitation Schedule
    • Audit program for effectiveness of frequencies and compliance to cleaning procedures
  • Develop the skills of team members and mastery of equipment through training, teaching, and coaching
  • Supports production lines via CPS processes and tools.
  • Provide Safety and Quality Support, including strong understanding, interpretation and execution of Food Safety Guidelines/Good Manufacturing practices (GMP’s), Sanitation, 5S.
  • Deliver Daily Operations Support.
  • Monitor and manage Pest Control reporting and documentation for internal and external services.
  • Documentation of root cause and corrective actions.
  • Follows and executes tasks as directed by the department Manager.
  • Knowledgeable of all positions within Sanitation with ability to fill in for emergency absences in the department.
  • Other duties as assigned based upon the needs of the business.
