About the Position:
As a Program Manager in the Program Management Office (PMO), you will assist the Customer function’s Process & Performance team in delivering high-priority projects on-time, on-budget and on-track for benefits achievement by facilitating project prioritization, financial management, resource management, and portfolio risk management across the project lifecycle; aligning the Customer PMO strategy with National Grid’s overall goals and strategy. The Program Manager reports to the Director of Planning & Performance Management and collaborates with the wider Process & Performance team to help set project and risk management policies and procedures across the portfolio. This individual will provide a robust project reporting infrastructure to support analysis, tracking of project progress information (e.g., project plan updates, status reports, risks, and issues), and development of key project or portfolio reports and dashboards. He/she will be key designer of project portfolio analysis, planning, project tracking, and project risk analytics to drive consistency of reporting across the portfolio.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Create and manage an integrated work plan of all projects (process and IS) across the P & P team portfolio.
Determine the optimal balance across the portfolio recommending the prioritization of projects.
Analyze resource utilization across the portfolio and identify areas of under/over-allocation.
Recommend modifications to project portfolio and deliverables as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
Track project actuals v. forecast variances and impact on portfolio budget.
Track benefits realization across the portfolio.
Work with Director and other P&P team members to govern project change requests.
Identify, document, quantify and track risks at the project and portfolio levels; escalate critical risks to schedule, budget and/or scope as required.
Liaise with NGUSA’s Critical Portfolio Hub and ensure alignment.
Identify processes and technical improvement opportunities to implement and develop project/portfolio management tools, templates/dashboards, methodologies, and reports; establish reporting cadence.
Track and report on key portfolio performance metrics (e.g., projects on-time, projects closed); design and maintain a centralized reporting infrastructure to track project data (e.g., project performance, tasks, estimated/actual durations, milestones, estimated/actual budgets, deliverables, expected/realized benefits).
Produce standard and ad-hoc reports; provide project status presentations; support development of Executive presentations.
Collaborate with key stakeholders with clear line of site to value creation.
Assist with scoping project needs, creating business cases and roadmaps with the project owners; help to develop project plans, budgets and establish milestones.
Prepare and maintain actions/issues log as well as project lessons learned log; ensure actions are follow-up on and lessons learned are proactively communicated/shared.
Ensure proper support to meet business requirements of financial and non-financial controls.

Knowledge & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in an analytical business discipline.
7 years+ project management roles with increasing responsibility.
PMP certification preferred.
Demonstrated ability to drive program and/or project planning, delivery and management.
Experience with large-scale, cross-functional projects across a complex organization.
In-depth understanding of design and delivery of portfolio-level reporting.
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills required.
Proven experience managing risks and issues across projects and programs.
Effective collaboration and partnership capabilities.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Understanding of Process Excellence.
Background in utility service business activities and projects a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office product suite, particularly with Project, Excel and PowerPoint.
