Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Lead Network Engineer to join our team in the Bethesda, MD area to provide unparalleled support to our customer and to begin an exciting and rewarding career within ManTech. The Lead Network Engineer will provide an engineering resource to support data communications and related applications requirements.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a small group of network engineers with diverse skill sets to achieve team goals in a timely manner
  • Investigates and resolves operational problems in conjunction with other engineering and technical personnel
  • Conduct customer surveys to determine local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAW/WAN) and other network requirements
  • Assist in routine configuration of routers concentrators etc.
  • Provide administrative support of installed systems/networks: assigning and controlling addresses revising system configurations
  • The candidate will be responsible for researching, planning, and implementing the necessary improvements to enhance the organization's local and wide-area networks
  • Evaluate vendor products and recommends purchases consistent with the organization's short and long-term objectives
  • Recommend and implement network policies and procedures and ensures adherence to security procedures
  • Work effectively with program managers, project managers, and technical lead(s) to develop project plans for projects assigned to the network engineering team
  • Coach/mentor junior engineers
  • Identify developmental goals and opportunities (e.g., training, on-the-job experience) that fosters learning and creates challenges for team members
  • Design, plan, and implement current LAN/WAN architectures
  • Manage\Administer LAN switches, routers, SONET equipment, encryption devices, and associated infrastructure
  • Implement fault tolerant solutions through sound design and use of appropriate technologies
  • Support virtualized hosts of multi-tiered HA/Clustered applications and databases
  • Design and implement backup/disaster recovery solutions to optimize customer uptime and network availability
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of NSA approved Type 1 network encryption devices covering several technology areas (i.e. SONET, Serial, Ethernet) across high speed wide area communications circuits
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of computer and networking software and hardware systems and related technologies
  • Analyze and assess computer/network architecture requirements and determine optimum, cost-effective solutions
  • Work closely with other systems architects and project managers to develop, plan, and implement system enhancements and upgrades
  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and identify and resolve technical design issues
  • Collaborate with client, server and other internal/external teams to identify support and technology advancements
  • Produce clear and concise documents and diagrams capturing networking and operational procedures and LAN/WAN topology using MS Visio, MS Project, MS Excel and MS Word
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting and complex problem resolution on escalated issues

Position Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering, or related field; or equivalent industry qualifications and five or more years of related experience
  • Working experience with configuring and deploying Cisco 4500 and 6500 series LAN switches
  • Working experience with configuring and deploying Cisco routers
  • Working experience with configuring and deploying Cisco NEXUS switches
  • Working experience with configuring and deploying firewalls
  • Strategic and tactical plans for data survivability and recovery planning
  • Assistance in the development of a concept of operation plans (CONOPS) to guide the tactical steps required to provide business continuance and disaster recovery
  • Experience with application performance and latency problems from front, middle and Back End
  • Experience implementing and supporting enterprise system monitoring tools
  • Solid network and systems troubleshooting experience with TCP/IP, Internet security, encryption
  • Ability to analyze and assess computer/network architecture requirements and determine optimum, cost-effective solutions
  • Knowledge of computer security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques to meet qualification of DoD 8570.01M CAT III IAT
  • IAT Level III certification is Required (CISA, GCIH, GCED, CISSP, CASP CE)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Desired
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Desired
  • Cisco Certified Voice Professional Desired
