Product Development Internship


The Product Development Intern will be a contributing member of a team that brings together leading-edge technical knowledge to spur development of new products, processes, and technologies. He or she will gain insight to industry while given a project that directly impacts our business, and will also directly assist a team in the execution of pilot plant tests, product cuttings, and research studies.


The Intern will be capable of working in a collaborative environment demonstrated by sharing ideas, opinions and expertise.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for one primary project as well as other small projects.  Projects include: new product launches, line extensions, problem/solution identification, testing of new innovations, and etc.
  • Conduct laboratory and pilot plant experiments as needed
  • Document and maintain accurate and complete records relating to processing parameters, product attributes, formulas, etc.
  • Maintain current and accurate laboratory notebook
  • Duties may include, but not limited to:
    • Planning test sequences
    • Ordering, weighing and assembling components
    • Operating and assembling pilot plant equipment
    • Arranging product shipments
    • Sample preparation for laboratory analyses
    • Collect and organize data
    • Format, analyze, and summarize data
    • Collaboration with Food Scientists and cross functional team members


Positions Qualifications:

  • Food Science curriculum required, Food Science or related major preferred.
  • Completed coursework in food analysis
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Junior Standing required

Physical Requirements:

  • Walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Lifting (ability to lift 25 lbs on a regular basis)
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing environments
  • Sensory evaluation of wide variety of foods and meats


Internships will be for a 11-week period from May through August, 2017.

Internships will be located in Omaha, NE
