Serves as engineering expert in the electrical power distribution discipline and as electrical power systems expert resource across the organization. Job duties include developing and improving company wide electrical power distribution design, providing technical support to facilities dealing with electrical power related emergencies, operational issues, and service outages. Recommends and implements improvements, modifications, additions, work processes, operating setpoint changes which reduce costs and enhance personnel safety and operational reliability, and/or deliver other competitive advantage. This position also identifies and promulgates electrical power related best practices including electrical safety, preventative maintenance programs, and best available technology across the enterprise.
Collaborates with Platform engineering team to develop annual and 3-year capital plans by recommending power distribution and power management improvements that are commercially proven in both concept and performance.
Develops enterprise wide standards, guidelines, and templates for electrical power service and distribution equipment and systems for application in Front Ending Loading Packages (FEL’s). Includes support/enforcement of preferred vendor agreements that contractually bind ConAgra to using specified vendors and products.
Works with other engineering disciplines to conceptually design and specify electrical power solutions by preparing clear, concise and thorough FEL packages that reflect prudent due diligence and conform to Enterprise-wide FEL formats. Works to allow synchronization, clear responsibility boundaries, and flawless transcription of concept among the various engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
Works with EH&S on electrical systems and work safety policies.
Maintains the Division 16 Electrical Standards
Performs reviews (own work and peer reviews) of FEL packages for accuracy, completeness, and operational effectiveness including but not limited to:
Technology assessment and recommendation evaluation that reflect existing standards and industry best-in-class practices.
Proposed arrangements and placements (drawing level)
Infrastructure requirements, needs, and impacts on current operations.
Equipment and system performance criteria
Operational staff needs assessment to ensure technology is appropriate and sustainable for the proposed plant.
Identification of alternatives, risks, prerequisites, and opportunities
Identifies and technically qualifies third party engineering and third party electrical contractors to perform work at Conagra sites.
Provides on-site support to project teams during design reviews, initial start-up activities, periods of focused improvement implementation, and when technical trouble-shooting exceeds the plant’s capabilities.
Identifies and supports intra-platform and cross-enterprise programs and solutions focused on improving manufacturing capacity, capability, and sustainability, or with the bias toward generally reducing total delivered cost and supporting growth.
Keeps current with the latest power distribution technology, commercial application of the same, and industry best practices that provide competitive advantage.
Keeps current with the latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to electrical power system design and operation.
Supports development of electrical preventative maintenance and engineering talent within ConAgra through effective use of internal resource development tools and external training and recruitment.
Additional duties as required.
BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering with extensive experience (8-10 years) in power distribution system design and project engineering
Knowledgable on UL, NEC and NFPA standards including NFPA 70B and 70E
Professional Engineer Registration is preferred but not required.
Experience within the food or consumer products manufacturing industry is considered a positive
Experience in Electrical Controls System specifically Rockwell Automation is preferred
Experience with Power management tools and processes a plus
Excellent technical knowledge, technical analysis, problem solving skills, and multiple project coordination skills are required
Proven ability to work within a multi-plant and cross-functional matrix organization
Travel % - up to 50% at times
