This position assists with identification, development and implementation of comprehensive loss control programs, processes, and procedures to mitigate or fund enterprise-wide risks. The position evaluates sophisticated risk financing techniques and oversees accumulation of risk exposure and renewal submission data. Responsible for procuring various insurance policies covering risks such as property, builder’s risk, mechanical breakdown, flood, marine, cyber, andcrime. Provides guidance to joint venture operations related to procurement of insurance policies. In addition, the position is responsible for claims related to any of the policies mentioned above.Accountable for managing of all aspects of the enterprise property and loss control program, the incumbent provides analysis and recommendations in the development of appropriate loss control strategies, and adherence to enterprise-wide control standards. Additionally, the incumbent reviews plant asset protection through numerous on-site visits consulting with both third party engineers and business unit managers.
This position delivers training programs, and assists development and maintenance of business continuity plans that will support business unit’s identification of critical business functions and viable business continuity plans that ensure the consistent delivery of products or services to customers and consumers. Accountable for Crisis Management and involved in company-wide Emergency Planning. The position with also manage worldwide Real Estate footprint for leasing, payments and facility management coordination.
Obtain thorough understanding of the Company’s current insurance programs in place, as well as obtain a general knowledge of current market conditions.
Manage and direct the activities of insurance brokers. This includes selection of insurance carriers to approach for proposals, nature of information to be shared with these carriers, which carriers to take off a specific insurance line (if necessary), and any special project that may arise. In addition, must have the ability to clearly articulate Company goals and directives to the insurance broker.
Develop insurance marketing programs to promote ConAgra Foods to current and potential insurance brokers and underwriters. In addition, negotiate with underwriters for true risk transfer through the purchase of insurance as appropriate to protect ConAgra assets.
Oversee and assist in the collection of data required by the insurance underwriters in order for them to better understand ConAgra’s risks and how these exposures are managed.
Make business unit and plant visits to meet with business managers and tour operating facilities to obtain intimate knowledge of Company operations and gain understanding of how various risk exposures are mitigated.
Provide direction, leadership and technical support to the operating companies in the identification of risks and applying risk management techniques to effectively handle those risks.
Evaluate, based on risk profile and market conditions, whether to insure on a self-insured basis against loss. Establish retention levels on the same basis if decision is to insure.
Develop and produce periodic reports to corporate senior staff, which summarize current risk financing strategies, services contracted, cost, plan (budget) performance, vendor performance, and strategic results.
Manages claims associated with property, mechanical breakdown, marine, builder’s risk, cyber or crime coverages.
Review third party contracts and make recommendations specific to indemnity and insurance requirements, based on the risk exposure of the arrangement.
Review insurance contracts to confirm they provide the terms and conditions agreed upon. If coverage gaps detected, work with broker and underwriter to resolve.
Oversees third party actuary hired to review loss history in order to determine fiscal year reserve balances on the balance sheet. This includes the selection and contracting of the actuarial service, overseeing the data collection, and review of the report provided to senior management and acting as the liason with both internal and external audit as it relates to the final report
Property Loss Control
Incumbent manages of all aspects of the property loss control program and mechanical breakdown program. The position provides analysis and recommendations in the development of appropriate loss control strategies, and adherence to enterprise-wide control standards. The incumbent serves as the primary liaison between all levels of company management and the loss prevention consultants.
Development of strategic plans and initiatives to increase the company’s property risk quality rating and lowering expected loss values. This includes projecting future risk quality ratings and working with internal and external partners to develop programs to be implemented with the purpose of decreasing operational risk.
Responsible for selection and contract negotiations with loss prevention consultant.
Conducts location inspections to review findings of loss prevention consultants and ensure these findings are being followed. Inspections of locations are also to enforce ConAgra Human Element Standards. This requires direction given to Plant Management including Plant Manager, Plant Engineers, and Plant Safety Managers.
Collaborate with Engineering and Safety to develop training for plant employees, such as, Fire Extinguisher training, Hot Work training, and Sprinkler Impairment training.
Oversees process for determining location and business interruption values.
Monitors natural catastrophes, identifying immediate exposures, assuring execution of local business continuity plans and preparing updates for senior management
Develop comprehensive training programs, plan requirements and formats, tools, consulting, testing and maintenance programs that will assist business units identify critical business functions and develop viable business continuity plans that ensure the consistent delivery of products or services to customers and consumers.
Lead efforts to develop and implement programs and materials to improve general business continuity awareness within the Company
Provides tactical and strategic planning and direction for the Business Continuity Planning(BCP) team; defines BCP Program policy, scope, goals and objectives; ensures adherence to quality standards & reviews team deliverables; manages execution of the team plans
Quantifies risks associated with company operations and works with varying levels of management to develop mitigation strategies in order to mitigate business impact.
Provides guidance to senior & executive staff, BCP team members & enterprise staff relative to the business continuity planning process
Responsible for assuring adequacy of business unit contingency plans for critical business areas to maintain continued operations. Ensure asset protection and loss mitigation in the event of a disruption and coordinate activities of technology resources with other business units, as required.
Updates and tests the Crisis Management Plan with senior leader engagement.
Oversees the development, update, and testing of other enterprise plans such as the Pandemic and Data Breach plans.
Ensure business unit maintenance and testing activities, covering all plan phases and stages, including identification of test objectives, resource requirements estimation, resource acquisition and usage, and coordination and implementation of tasks and activities in support of the testing objectives.
Develop detailed project plan, providing updates to the status of the overall program.
Facilitates the activation of business continuity plans and leads update calls during a distruption or event.
Real Estate Management
Manage worldwide property footprint
Work with Brokers/Owners to secure property leases as needed
Make sure on-going facility management is in tact and servicing properties
Ensure payments and lease renewal is in place to support properties
Lead new projects for space or operations as needed
Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business
Minimum 10 years of related experience, including at least 5 years of corporate level experience of a Fortune 500 company
