The primary purpose of this position is to perform general accounting and projects associated with Financial Accounting Team (this position will work more specifically with the cash/bank, prepaids, liabilities, etc.) for the Corporate Controllers Group (CCG). This position requires sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), preparation/uploading journal entries, assistance with period-end close, preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations, coordinating the distribution of routine and ad hoc financial reports and information, and assistance with preparation of audit schedules. This position will communicate frequently with personnel at all levels within the Corporate Controllers Group and throughout the Company. The accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of this communication are vital and must clearly convey all outstanding issues.



  • Provide support for internal and external financial statements in compliance with GAAP and/or other regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in period-end close activities to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks, including identification and resolution of accounting errors, unusual items and issues in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Create and maintain monthly accounting reconciliations and schedules as assigned, including timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal customers the plant/warehouse locations, Enterprise Business Services, Supply Chain Finance, FP&A, IT and others to research and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate, guide, and communicate with remote team members in a 3rd party outsourcing relationship.
  • Perform general accounting activities in the SAP general ledger, which includes preparing and uploading journal entries, analysis, Business Warehouse reporting and use of the Assurenet/Comprehensive Accounting Excellence tool.
  • Work with the treasury group to ensure all changes in banking activities are accounted for properly.
  • Perform monthly close tasks, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, and escalating issues for timely resolution.
  • Exercise judgment in financial, operational, or transactional analysis to identify and help resolve issues.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of processes and procedures and develop improvements as needed.
  • Document processes (e.g. desk procedures), recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Alert management of situations that may materially affect the company’s overall financial condition.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively work in a team environment both within and outside of assigned area of responsibility.
  • Document and develop new processes without direct supervision as needs arise.
  • Assist in internal and external audits.
  • Participate actively, and sometimes lead, in special projects involving financial accounting matters, such as mergers/acquisitions, policy updates, creation of new processes, and business systems conversions and upgrades.
  • Train as a backup to tasks in other areas of the Financial Accounting department.
  • Train teammates, new hires and 3rd party outsourcing team on select areas as you master them.

  • Prioritize multiple activities to ensure accurate and timely completion of both scheduled and extemporaneous tasks within a tight deadline.
  • Ability to reach out to various levels within the organization and 3rd parties in order to resolve issues.

  • Ability to identify and promptly communicate situations that may materially affect the company’s overall financial condition.

Latitude and Dimensions

This position handles/is responsible for accounting activities for their assigned business areas, plants and balance sheet components. In addition, this position will have responsibility for preparation of the balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries.


Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA, CMA certification and/or advanced degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of business experience in public accounting, or corporate accounting, strongly preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and planning skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and assignments at the same time to reach resolution
  • Ability to research problems independently and propose business solutions 
  • Ability to research and reconcile multiple accounts with minimal supervision
  • SAP, financial and controlling modules, experience preferred
  • Advanced PC and MS Office skills a must (must be agile, quick, and very familiar with all excel functionalities)
