Provides technical support for variety of activities related to new product development, product reformulations and other regulatory issues as they arise. Main focus of this position is to be the liaison between Regulatory Affairs and Research and Development to address situations that arise on documentation for preliminary formulations, ingredient statements, nutrition and claims.
Serves as the point person for Regulatory Affairs and Research and Development with respect to documentation in the Stage Gate process.
Fully supports the LW Nutrition program for product or claim validation through sampling, shipping, review of analysis and data entry, where applicable.
Efficiently manages multiple requests for information that are received from the Data Management Organization, Sales, Marketing or Retail, Chain and Foodservice customers.
When required, develops accurate ingredient statements/allergens acceptable for use in the intended market.
When required, develops nutrition facts panels acceptable for use in the intended market.
When required, reviews product claims (ingredient, nutrient, and provenance) for use and approval in the intended market.
Reviews package graphic proofs for all requisite information (ingredient statements, net weights, font size and placement, etc.) via an internal electronic packaging approval process.
Insures legal compliance for all regulatory requirements. Process will vary based on product status (retail or foodservice) and the market locations intended for distribution.
Responsible for maintaining centralized document management systems for Regulatory Affairs, Food Safety and Quality, when required.
B.S. in Food Science, Nutrition or related field required.
Minimum of 5 years of food industry experience in Regulatory Affairs - Labeling, Quality, or Research & Development.
Working knowledge of FDA food laws and regulations; labeling, GMPs, HACCP, USDA grade standards.
Strong communication skills (verbal & written).
Strong attention to details/detailed orientated.
Good knowledge of food product development and processes.
Good knowledge of food safety and allergens.
Proven abilities as a motivated self-starter.
Proven ability to problem solve, manage & prioritize multiple time-constrained tasks.
Perform within a cross- functional and departmental team orientations.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
Ability to travel as needed (5-10%).
Incumbent must have the ability to effectively perform all of the following physical demands without assistance:
Must be able to sit for periods of time, up to 4 hours.
Must be able to drive a company or rental vehicle for up to 8-10 hours or 300 – 500 miles.
