Position summary:

Oversees inventory and supply planning responsibilities for international co-packers and local copackers/plants. Maintains production schedules to ensure the efficient delivery of inventory, service and cost objectives. Responsibilities may also include inventory stock transfer/replenishment responsibilities. Provides supply planning expertise in support of plant and co-pack operations, commercialization of new products, resolution of key inventory shortage issues and inventory management/working capital.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with Global, International and Canadian co-packers/plants develop a supply plan for total warehouse network to meet the business demand. 
  • Develop adequate supply replenishment plans based on current inventory position, supplier lead times, unconstrained open stock and promotional forecasts, supplier capacity, safety stock requirements, etc., as applicable. Issuing and managing of P.O.’s to outside vendors.
  • Business Partner with the co-packers to develop string working relationships to ensure effective flow of goods into Canada.
  • Accountable for successful collaboration with Demand Planning, Brand Management, and Plant Operations to prioritize and deliver products and services that meet or exceed the business needs with attention to simplicity of design and ease of use/interaction.
  • Collaborate with Demand Planning group to translate S&OP forecasts to SKU-DC level supply plans
  • Actively management planning for Fresh-pack and seasonal categories, to ensure adequate season-to-season  supply coverage to support business growth
  • Balancing of Inventory levels across warehouse networks
  • Develop an understanding of manufacturing constraints and capabilities of the manufacturing locations being planned
  • Proactively communicate with production and co-packer facilities, Sales, Marketing, Demand Planning and Customer Service. Keep all affected parties apprised of potential problems or issues impacting the business. 
  • Proactively identify and communicate inventory and service issues with proposed solutions.
  • Work closely with the transportation group to ensure effect flow of goods from international co-packers and local manufacturing to Canadian Distribution Centers.
  • Work with Demand Planning, commercial teams to support new product initiatives and promotions and new item launches are successfully executed and ensure that supply can meet demand
  • Review on a weekly basis that inventory levels are maintained at objective stock levels. Ensure production facilities are given required lead time to produce the product.
  • Proactive to Identify slow moving SKUs that will become short dated and highlight to relevant business teams in order to minimize spoilage
  • Creates reporting and metrics for various audiences. Effectively communicate findings and recommendations to management and other business functions.
  • Maintain and optimize system planning parameters to ensure planning data integrity
  • Challenge status quo in an effort to simplify business process and optimize supply chain performance.
  •  Identifies opportunities to increase efficiency and follows through with new projects



  • Assess current inventory levels and forecasts to make appropriate business decisions that minimize costs and achieve corporate working capital and service level objectives.
  • Develop detailed understanding of manufacturing constraints of local plants and international co-packer locations to enrich and develop feasible supply plan.
  • Track plant/business performance (KPIs) to the established supply chain plan.
    Identifies ways to improve supply planning processes and tools for assigned areas.
    Track and reconcile weekly/monthly metrics versus established targets
  • Support annual planning process for designated brands/plants, including seasonal/Freshpack planning

Change Leadership

  • Provide leadership and direction for business team on matters regarding supply chain, production and supply planning.
  • Presentation of findings that drive understanding, alignment and informed decision making.
  • Identifies ways to improve supply planning processes and tools for assigned areas.

Position Qualifications:

  • University degree (Business, operations, supply chain, engineering or related field), packaging engineering preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in production or inventory planning
  • Background in master scheduling, forecasting, procurement and planning
  • Detail oriented with strong problem solving, analytical and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage day to day tactical activities and assist the team with ad hoc planning metrics and reports.
  • Experience with ERP/Supply Planning software packages/tools
  • Strong Microsoft Excel knowledge, ability to mentor others in Excel.
  • Experience with management of portfolio with seasonal/Freshpack categories
  • Proven success in optimizing and managing SOP’s.
  • Experience with BPCS a plus
