Description:

SAIC is looking for a Technical Writer/Editor in Vicksburg, MS, Stennis, MS, Dayton, OH, APG, MD and Maui, HI.

This candidate edits, proofreads and provides writing support, the conceptualization, layout and preparation of high quality graphics, text, and templates, and the design, preparation, and creation of new media projects on non-technical and/or technical documents or sections of documents prepared by writers such as manuals, procedures and specifications. Responsibilities include checking drafts for format, clarity and overall cohesiveness. Ensuring documents meet editorial and government specifications and adhering to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style. Responsibilities include: producing and/or revising technical articles, proposals, publications, books, manuals, reports, and marketing materials and determining project requirements and presenting drafts of finished product to the user ensuring high quality of output. . Reviews rough drafts and makes suggestions. In addition, individuals in this family design and develop multimedia applications, systems and products involving computer graphics and interactive computing using a variety of new media software applications, techniques and tools. Participates in development of advanced concepts, techniques, and standards. Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories. Viewed as expert in field within the corporation. Establishes operational objectives and assignments. Objectives are reviewed by senior management to determine success of operation. Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies which affect immediate operation(s) and may also have company-wide effect. PROBLEM COMPLEXITY: Participates in development of solutions to problems of unusually complex which require a high degree of ingenuity and innovation. Challenges are often unique and solutions may serve precedent for future decisions.

This candidate is responsible for the following:

(a) Writes a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures, manuals and/or documentation for a wide range of uses.
(b) Coordinates the display of graphics and the production of the document.
(c) Produces technical and scientific illustrations for presentations and/or publication, as appropriate to the requirements.
(d) Ensures that content is of high quality and that documents/products conform with organizational standards for style.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and fifteen (15) years or more of related experience; Masters and thirteen (13) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience.

Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments. Plans and leads major technology assignments. Evaluates performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success. Functions as a technical expert across multiple project assignments.
