SAIC is looking for a highly skilled Database Engineer to fulfill a role in the Army Cyber Community at Fort Belvoir, VA. The Database Engineer collaborates with cross functional Information Technology Services and business teams to ensure overall system and database availability and performance, design application data models and implement physical database structures. Must be a self-motivated team player with a proven track record in a fast-paced workplace. Evaluating technology standards, availability of products, and the risks and benefits of technology introduction. Work with IT and business teams to identify technology solutions to achieve business results. Install and maintain database management systems, physical database, design perform database maintenance, provide performance and tuning support establish. Maintain and enhance relationships with business and ensure database backup and recovery processes are in place. Monitor database growth and provide input to overall system capacity plan.


Implementing and managing High Availability / Clustering environments

Evaluate and manage existing software and licensing configurations, systems and the design, implementation and management of new/improved systems

Develop asset and license management standards, plans and procedures; Ensure changes to asset and license management methods/processes are properly documented

Plan and Manage population of software licensing, central libraries and tools for C4SR system equities: hardware, software, licenses and warranties

Experience with analysis and technical support for new licenses/software/hardware and renewal of recurring license maintenance/warranty requirements

Identify impact of architecture changes to integrated and distributed systems, license terms and conditions - investigate opportunities for cost efficiencies through enterprise license agreements and re-use

Support/coordinate with stakeholders, OEMs and Government authorities in gaining approval for hardware/software to Approved Product Lists

Knowledge of Enterprise IT Service Management: IT Service Delivery, ITIL Service Management Framework including: Service Design, Service Transition, Availability management, Capacity management and IT service continuity management

Participate in weekly meetings with the IT infrastructure team to discuss progress and issues to be resolved, and report progress on a weekly basis

Participate on IT project steering committees and be involved in the design phase of new IT asset management projects

Serve as a liaison and facilitator for asset and license management between Mission Operations sites to assist in addressing and resolving related IT issues and concerns

Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing new IT asset management capabilities, projects and initiatives to support and enhance existing asset management systems

Identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of Mission Operations and IT asset processes

Lead/Support development of new asset and license management services

Collect and assess information contained in the asset management systems and manage appropriate performance reporting, communicating performance outcomes/metrics/asset status to stakeholders in accordance with approved Platform technology Management plans Provide support to users and auditors in the effective use of, and terms of compliance for program equities

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science (CS) or Computer Engineering (CE) or equivalent

- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (e.g. current CompTia Security + CE)

- Minimum 6 years’ experience as a Senior Systems Administrator in a complex enterprise network environment

- Minimum 6 years of direct experience with administration of Oracle/Sun Solaris Operating System

- Extensive knowledge and experience in virtualization and clustering technologies, Oracle Solaris Containers, Oracle VM Server

- Experience managing server cluster environment including configuration, shares and permissions

- Experience with license management including Oracle Database and Weblogic Server, install and de-install system software in a virtualized environment

Desired Qualifications:

- Masters (MS) degree

Clearance Requirement:

- Must have and maintain an Active TS/SCI clearance; must be willing to undergo CI polygraph
