This assignment begins immediately and lasts through March 2017 when worldwide deployment is scheduled to complete. Candidates will work initially in either McLean or Ashburn, VA, but then work at a facility near Kingstowne in Alexandria, VA when the government provides additional space. All these sites are non-SAIC locations. There is no potential for teleworking.

The SPARTA Team supporting the U. S. Department of State has an immediate need for IT Analysts. We seek fast learners, preferably with software implementation and development experience, who work well in a dynamic team on a fast paced contract.

Job Description

SPARTA (Security Personnel and Resources Through Awareness) is a new Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) system being deployed to all State Department embassies and consulates overseas. The system integrates inputs from all physical security devices located at the facility into flexible displays that provide the necessary situational awareness for maintaining security at the site. The SPARTA Team is deploying this system remotely from three locations in northern Virginia: team facilities in McLean and Ashburn and a government facility in Alexandria.

Candidates who join the team will support global deployment of the system by verifying system prerequisites, installing software, performing quality assurance checks, plotting devices on 2D and 3D maps, and verifying system operability. Team members also communicate directly with embassy and consulate staff when configuring remote machines.

Other job responsibilities include: (1) verifying accuracy and timeliness of deliverables, (2) writing and editing documents and reports, (3) following detailed guidance to complete deployment steps, and (4) developing process guidance and analyses.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and six (6) years or more of related experience; Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree.


U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET clearance are required due to the need to obtain a State Department badge. Experience in the software and information technology areas listed below is preferred:

- Remote installation of client/server software

- Verification of connectivity

- Troubleshooting of installation issues

- Collection and installation of 2D and 3D media files

- Setting up GIS locations

- Configuration and commissioning of site specific devices to include camera and security device plotting on 2D and 3D maps

- Configuration of site screens and user interface layouts

- Working closely with senior deployment and technical leads

- An understanding of Microsoft OS, SQL server backend, basic system administration and SQL programming

- The ability to work independently on projects maintaining concurrent deployment activities in a test and production environment
