JT3 is dedicated to being the nation's premier provider of joint test, tactics, and training support. We provide engineering and technical support to four of the western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech. The company is a joint venture of Raytheon and AECOM and is supported by 9 teammate companies. Together we develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments. We prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

We are recruiting an experienced Radar/RF Engineer to work within a research and development engineering group where you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks. The primary tasking will be the sustainment of various radars, but would also include design and analysis. We are looking for engineers who work well in both theoretical and practical domains as part of an iterative process to create innovative solutions for a multitude of radar and RF challenges.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

This position requires the following abilities which are usually performed within a lab but also in the field:

- Troubleshoot all types of radar and RF component and system level issues.
- Maintain, overhaul, and modify radar and RF system components and associated equipment.
- Design radar and microwave transmitting and receiving systems from stringent requirements.
- Research and select high power radar components based upon specified requirements.
- Write requirements documents, theories of operation, operations manuals, etc.
- Conduct individual radar and RF component tests and system level testing in a lab and on installed systems to verify vendor specification compliance and system performance.
- Prototype systems to determine design feasibility.
- Integrate COTS and specially designed radar hardware into a large scale system.
- Apply sound system engineering principles.
- Proficiency with HFSS, TICRA/GRASP, and/or other tools is desired.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

In a broader sense this position also serves as a Principal Investigator and individual contributor to contract research, development, integration, and sustainment projects. The successful candidate:

- Develops and applies advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and difficult system design requirements and problems.
- Provides technical consultation to other organizations or customers.
- Directs interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
- Reviews completion and implementation of systems additions and/or enhancements and recommends corrections in technical application and analysis to management.
- Prepares, delivers, and submits technical papers and performs engineering studies.
- Supports development of technical proposals and provides comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work. .
- Maintains technical project responsibility for assigned tasks and advises management of progress in support of the technical and administrative direction of project operations.
- Conducts site visits and experimental investigations and analyzes engineering problems, proposes solutions and alternatives, and provides recommendations.
- Performs other position-related duties and assignments as directed.

EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

- Must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 2 years of related engineering experience.
- Must use superior communications skills, both verbal and written, in day-to-day project activities as well as in briefing customers and in writing reports and proposals.
- Must possess planning/organizing skills and have a working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools.
- Will be required to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and must have a valid, current state driver's license.

Must possess the ability to:

- Troubleshoot all types of radar and RF component and system level issues.
- Maintain, overhaul, and modify radar and RF system components and associated equipment.
- Design radar and microwave transmitting and receiving systems from stringent requirements.
- Research and select high power radar components based upon specified requirements.

Desired:

- The incumbent must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and 8 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science in Engineering with at least 6 years of related engineering experience or have an accredited PhD in Engineering with at least 4 years of related engineering experience.
- Knowledge of antenna design, modeling and simulation, system testing and analysis, and radar signal processing is desired.
- Proficiency with HFSS, TICRA/GRASP, and/or other tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting up to 40 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote Company work locations may be required.
