JOB DUTIES: Seeking an instrumentation engineer who will be responsible for development and sustainment of real-time microprocessor-based data acquisition and control systems. Job responsibilities include: Design, development, testing and deployment of integrated electronic instrumentation systems that combine commercial and custom-made hardware and software. Testing electronic instrumentation systems using in-circuit emulators, source-level debuggers oscilloscopes, serial data protocol analyzers and PROM/FPGA programmers. Supervision of field installations and other support required to bring instrumentation systems to operational status. Assists systems engineers with requirements determination and authors technical specifications. Leads instrumentation system design and development activities for more complex projects; advises management of progress in support of the technical and administrative direction and project operations. Verifies and complies with engineering standards and test procedures. Coordinates with project leaders from other disciplines (security, logistics, project management, etc) for the entirety of a project life cycle. Schedules project activities, plans and conducts system testing, analyzes resultant system data, documents results in test reports, and conducts technical briefings to management of all levels. Leads the authoring of technical documentation and conduct of engineering studies. Conducts site visits and experimental investigations; analyzes engineering problems, proposes solutions and alternatives, and provides recommendations. Performs other engineering –related duties and assignments as directed.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily sedentary with walking, bending, climbing stairs and lifting up to 40 pounds. Work is usually performed in an office with frequent visits to a field location. This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. Use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote Company work locations may be required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: BS or MS degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from an ABET- accredited academic institution with up to 8 years of related engineering experience. Experience with development and design of x86 and ARM-based embedded systems. Experience with software development for QNX, Linux, and Windows operating systems, to include hardware driver development. Experience with control theory and implementing real-time control systems. Experience with designing, implementing and testing Ethernet (TCP, UDP) networks. Experience with use of electronic test equipment. Experience with circuit design, schematic capture and circuit board layout. Experience leading teams responsible for analysis and modification of complex integrated and embedded electronic systems. Experience leading project teams responsible for design and development of integrated and embedded electronic systems. Experience with projects following engineering concepts, principles and practices. Possess an active TS/SSBI security clearance and have a current valid driver’s license.
EDUCATIONAL, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE – REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline from an ABET- accredited academic institution with up to 8 years of related engineering experience. Experience with development and design of microprocessor-based embedded systems. Experience with development of real-time systems using the C and C++ programming languages. Experience in software development for real-time operating systems. Experience with Local Area Network (LAN) design and implementation. Familiarity with use of electronic test equipment. Able to organize, prioritize, plan and complete work assignments on time with minimal supervision. Able to lead teams responsible for analysis and modification of complex integrated and embedded electronic systems. Able to lead project teams responsible for design and development of integrated and embedded electronic systems. Comprehensive knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles and practices. Must be able to qualify for and maintain a TS/SSBI security clearance and have a current valid driver’s license.
