Job Description:

Under direct supervision assists in performing systems analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and implementation of applications that require comprehensive knowledge and technical skills. Administrator will have broad knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and Windows Server environments to include knowledge of current supported Windows Server Versions, Active Directory Forest mode, Group Policy application, , Global Directories to include Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), DNS, DHCP, HP SA, and vRealize Automation. The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values, enabling staff, volunteers, and Partners. Carry out performance, and troubleshooting of multiple client infrastructures and virtual desktop environments.

Job Responsibilities:

-
Engineering of SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs.

-
Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

-
Install and configure systems such as supports DSN Administrative LAN/WAN applications or Asset Management applications.

-
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.

-
Contribute to and maintain system standards.

-
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

-
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.

-
Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.

-
Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.

Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.

-
Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.

-
Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.

-
Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.

-
Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.

Upgrade and configure system software for various Enterprise Applications that are utilized to support the DSN per project or operational needs.

-
Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.

-
Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.

-
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.

Qualifications:
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience. High School or equivalent and 5+ years related experience may be applied in lieu of Bachelors.

Related Experience:

-
At least 2 years? experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining distributed virtual switches in a VMware environment.

-
VDI implementation experience including- set up and configuration of the View Architecture, configuring base images, creating inventory pools, deploying and migrating users and desktops.

Strong system administration familiarity with the following applications:

Microsoft SQL 2008 R2/2014

Windows 7

Office 2010

Active Directory

BMC Remedy/SDE

VMWare Certification(s) / License(s)

This position requires DoDI 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification and corresponding Computing Environment certification.

Must have at least one of the following: MCSA System Administrator: Windows Server 2003, MCITP Server Administrator: Windows Server 2008, MCITP Enterprise Administrator: Windows Server 2008, MCITP Virtualization Administrator Windows Server 2008 R2, MCSA Windows Server 2008, MCSA Windows Server 2012, MCSE Server Administrator: Windows Server 2003, MCSE Desktop Infrastructure 2012, MCSE Server Infrastructure 2012, MCSE Private Cloud 2012, Server+, VCP 4, VCP 5.

Clearance Requirement:

Must currently possess or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance.
