About the Position:
This position is responsible for technology research, product testing & validation, and product integration for new offerings for our customers in Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. This position will lead the testing and integration of planned technologies into the Company?s Energy Efficiency (EE) and Demand Response (DR) portfolios, and identify new technologies to be added to those portfolios, including emerging technologies such as energy storage, distributed generation, and EV charging. By incorporating advancements in load control, aggregation, Internet of Things, behavioral DR, and distributed energy resources, this position is an essential contributor to our goal of a modernized, customer-centric, 21st century utility.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Identify new and emerging technologies for demonstration in future EE and DR program plans in MA, RI and NY, with a focus on smart/connected devices, in partnership with New Partnerships and Group Technology teams.
Research and evaluate new products, technologies and systems that offer increased energy visibility and control to our customers through disaggregated (e.g. appliance-level) usage information.
Conduct other technology research and evaluation, as required, to support planned program in areas such as distributed generation (DG), energy storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging.
Serve as technical lead during the design and planning of new product demonstrations and pilots, from specifying requirements to coordinating User Acceptance Testing.
Provide guidance to technology vendors/partners on current and future requirements, and plan and develop system integrations between technology partner/vendor and National Grid systems.
Serve as technical lead throughout development, launch, and ongoing program delivery for new EE and DR products in MA, RI, and NY, including both enhancements and new product offerings.
Plan and lead small-scale pilots of new products and technologies, recruiting test customers, coordinating field installations, ensuring support from technology partner/vendor, obtaining customer usage data and feedback, and synthesizing results to inform larger-scale program development.
Commission third-party studies and pilot evaluations, as required, to verify impacts on customer energy usage and establish cost-effectiveness.
Conduct internal product testing & validation efforts for new product enhancements, including all integration points.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
Experience in managing internal and external project teams required.
Knowledge of industry trends and innovation in EE and DR technology required.
Experience implementing the different phases of the product development process and converting engineering ideas to life experiences.
Experience with communicating technology platforms, design, internal IT integrations, external vendor technology integrations, customer-facing technology, and company-owned metering integration preferred.
Experience with electric utility programs preferred, either within a utility or as a vendor/partner or related service provider.
Knowledge of energy storage preferred
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 4 years of related work experience.

Able to respond to storm- and other emergency-related events, as assigned by National Grid?s emergency response department, including working off-hour and weekend shifts and traveling within the region, as required of all Company employees.
