About the Position:
The Gas Enablement ambition is to significantly rationalize the existing portfolio of applications through the modernization of architecture and solutions combined with the standardization and simplification of business processes. The solution must support the gas business delivering a step change in its compliance and operational performance, be a platform for future growth and a solution that allows an agile, continuous improvement approach to future development.
This role is specifically accountable for oversight of the day-to-day IS effort in the portfolio. This includes the 3 principle functional work streams:
Asset Management and GIS
Work Management and Field Mobility
It also includes the work to define and deliver the ?IS Enabling? Architecture and infrastructure? in support of the larger portfolio.
In addition to managing the above scope of work, this role is expected to act as a deputy to the VP, Strategic Solution Delivery who has full accountability for IS and will act as a surrogate member of the GBE Leadership team as needed.
This role will be help to manage the relationship with the project delivery partners ensuring that they are delivering the required outputs, on time and to budget and escalating issues as appropriate.
To be successful this role will have to work very closely with the project team, the business and the wider IS organization as it will be the combined performance of their teams that drives the business value.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Develop and deliver the IS solution to meet the business?s requirements.
Develop and deliver the support and development model for post implementation operations and improvement.
Manage the relationship with and performance of the delivery partners.
Work closely with the other program leads to ensure successful delivery.
Interact with senior executives and prepare reports to address executives? informational needs.
Coordinate with internal (e.g., Gas Business, Jurisdictions, IS, HR, Regulatory) and external (e.g. consultancies) project stakeholders.
Support the implementation of National Grid?s Project Golden Rules, and will transparently escalate issues and risks.
Contribute content to executive presentations, including the Steering Committee, US Executive Committee, Group Executive Committee and PLC Board.
Ensure comprehensive IS governance processes are in place to ensure adequate technical and financial control and compliance.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
10+ years leadership experience, preferably 5+ leading portfolios of multiple programs.
Knowledge and experience delivering major IS programs of similar size and complexity (e.g. $100 M plus).
Knowledge of National Grid?s legacy systems ideal.
Industry best practice solutions (e.g. Agile delivery, SOA, testing and quality management methods and tools, risk and issue management, benefits and management tracking and governance and control methods).
Successful track record of identifying and sharing best practice from within and outside the company Able to combine rigor and discipline with a pragmatic approach to delivering the highest quality, cost effective, solutions in demanding timeframes and in a complex political/regulatory environment.
Solid understanding of and experience with regulatory/governance processes.
Experience navigating complex IS sourcing markets to identify opportunities to drive value for National Grid.
Experience managing in an international multi-vendor ecosystem with resources both on and off-shore.
Experience identifying and evaluating disruptive technologies that represent opportunities for IS to support National Grid?s future ambitions.
Successful track record in implementing significant change.

A Bachelor?s degree, preferably in an IS discipline.
Develop the IS solution for the 5,000+ employees that serve 7 million customers spending $300M+ of Opex and approaching $1.5B of Capex every year.
It is anticipated the IS portion of this program will approach $400M of spend over multiple years
Team size will grow from an initial startup team of around 15 FTEs to 75-100 FTEs including delivery partner resources.
The role will manage 4 existing Band C?s and their teams.
