About the Position:
This position is accountable for working with the Supply Chain Management business operations areas (Accounts Payable, Procurement and Inventory & Warehouse Management) to develop optimal functional designs that will maximize the value of the Business Intelligence (BI) solution and reporting tool capabilities for the business needs. The BI analyst will provide support and directly assist the BI Power User Community with their information management needs. The BI Analyst will coordinate and carry out the activities and processes required for change management and release management of the SAP BI solution through the Business Process Support Change Control Board and the Change Advisory Board.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Clarifies Business Intelligence requirements and identifies BI Object / Universe / HANA Models and View enhancements with Power Users /End Users
Creates holistic and optimal functional designs that can accommodate multiple business requirements when applicable and collaborates with the business to ensure any near future requirements are incorporated in overall design solution functional specification for BI Objects
Educates Power Users on HANA views, BI Universe design, BW Object data model, and mapping of data to business processes for SAP FI/CO, PowerPlan, Maximo and Storms.
Educates Power Users on BI application capabilities, limitations, system performance measurements and refresh schedules, and escalation process to the BI organization
Assist Power Users with complex report requirements and guides and directs Power User to appropriate BI data source and reporting tool for report design
Develops Power User community and skill sets by performing training sessions, on-the-job trainings and assisting as necessary
Provides the third line of support to resolve user questions and issues with the BI application
Maintains necessary documentation as required by the organization
Responsible for following escalation process, development, engagement, publishing and other guidelines as defined by the BI Organization
Collaborates with technical team to clarify functional requirements and provide input on technical designs as needed
Reviews test cases provided by requestor and ensures test data is available in software development quality environments
Reviews unit testing results, participates in integration testing and coordinates user acceptance testing with requestor
Identifies new enhancement opportunities and focuses on making process improvements that deliver value to the BI organization and reporting community
Willingness to become subject matter expert in one or more BI technologies
Assist in project prioritization and business case development
Participates in testing of new and updated reports and application upgrades
Provides feedback on system performance and report findings to BI admins and developers
Oversees the progression and resolution of defects by our technical partners; conducts QA testing of resolutions prior to handing off to Power Users for approval
Provide oversight on the Change Request process by monitoring and driving the Change Request management process, consulting on proposed solutions, driving adherence to solution integrity principles, providing testing oversight, working with business stakeholders to align required changes in support of National Grid strategic initiatives.
Contribute to the release management process by working with the business and BPS leadership to source approvals from business leaders and from change requesters; by participating in release audits and assisting the Release Manager in management of release planning issues; interact with Business and the Application Management team to align Incident and Change Management with the approved release schedule.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field preferred and 1+ years experience required.
In depth experience using BI tools such as: SAP Business Objects, Web Intelligence, HANA, Analysis for Office, Tableau, Dashboard, Lumira
In depth experience using HANA views and SAP BOBJ Universes
In depth experience to translate complex business requirements into robust and optimized reporting solutions
Experience of the overall BI/DW architecture and SAP BI Software Development Life Cycle Management
Experience data modeling principles and data model design
Experience delivering and creating BI User Training
Excellent communication skills and facilitation skills
Ability to prioritize investments and solutions to ensure that the goals of the business and those of the IS organization are met.
In-depth experience of field or back office work processes is preferred.
Working knowledge of the solution delivery investment plans and the overall business plans is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is a must.
Proficiency in knowledge management tools such as SharePoint, etc.
Knowledge of ITIL development processes, governance and procedures a plus
Analytical experience / analytical proficiency
Proficiency is project management techniques.
Proficiency in negotiations, influencing, and communication skills.
Ability to work with and oversee off-shore development teams, including understanding of IS vendor contracts is a plus.
