About the Position:
Support and contribute to the development and implementation of Procure to Pay process improvement initiatives, encompassing all contributing functions focused on meeting or exceeding corporate driven objectives and targets. Responsible for execution of the daily tasks required to design, implement, and ensure sustainment of process improvement initiatives through the use of proven lean and defect mitigation methodologies and tools. Support continuous improvement capability growth by working with functional practitioners within the end to end process and promoting process improvement tool use and opportunity identification.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Utilizing formal process Excellence tools (ex: process mapping, value stream mapping) to identify defects / wastes and determine root causes.
Identifying, testing and driving / managing the implementation of sustainable process improvement solutions.
Tracking the benefits expected and realized from improvement initiatives.
Utilizing formal process Excellence tools and methodologies and support functional specific problem solving.
Implementing standard work processes (if appropriate).
Conducting risk assessments and probability analyses of functional tasks as they relate to the overall end to end (E2E) process.
Analyzing and anticipating sources of risk, assessing probability and consequence as they relate to the E2E process.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience Required:
A Bachelor?s degree preferably in an engineering/analytical discipline
Significant experience with Lean, Six Sigma or similar process improvement discipline
Influential, energetic and enthusiastic process improvement practitioner, with the drive, ambition and resilience to utilize and leverage proven process improvement tools to deliver outstanding process performance
Significant experience managing resources and activities in a matrix environment focused on delivering sustainable end to end process improvement
Proven experience at influencing front line and mid-level managers (Supervisor ? Director) of the organization
Ability to successfully work within and demonstrate cooperation across diverse teams with potentially conflicting goals and objectives
Basic knowledge of the core functions within National Grid, the skills required to execute that work and an understanding of the nuances / interdependencies that exist with the work is desired but not required.
Capability Requirements:
Ability to apply the following skills and assist others in applying the skill to complete work with appropriate direction and guidance from the Process Improvement Lead:
Process and Performance Excellence Principles: Ability to advocate and actively contribute to a process driven culture by supporting a clear vision, exhibiting example behaviors, identify improvement opportunities, providing honest feedback, challenging the status quo, and maintaining a non-functional biased end to end process focus.
Process Improvement Methodology: Ability to execute methodical approach to Define the As Is process (steps, responsible parties, hand offs, outputs), Measure (waste identification, benchmarks, data availability), Analyze (trending, waste or defect root cause), Improve (identify improvement opportunities), and Control (implement and sustain improvements).
Process Improvement Tools: Ability to utilize specific tools (VOC, process mapping, value stream mapping, regression analysis, SIPOC, Pareto charts, control charts, etc.) and translate outcomes to process improvements despite the existence of complexity and ambiguity.
Project Management: Ability to prioritize and manage projects to ensure that quality work is completed on time and within budget. Involves scheduling and managing tasks and resources needed to accomplish a given project and identifying and resolving issues impacting progress.
Business Case Development: Ability to facilitate and drive business case efforts to ensure all assumptions and data regarding cost, benefit, and timeline justifications are identified.
Align Process Improvement to Process Performance: Ability to provide recommendations, implementation plans, and deliver improvement solutions based on accurate performance metrics and analytics.
Facilitation support: Ability to lead or contribute to process improvement discussions by asking questions, leveraging process evaluation tools, encouraging participation, and ensuring that all participants' views are heard.
Technical Aptitude for Data Analysis: Ability to collect, normalize, and analyze data in order to determine correlations, trends, and predictions, and then leverage within an improvement strategy.
Analytical Thinking: Ability to leverage and analyze data to identify critical information, develop hypothesis and make actionable recommendations for improving the E2E process.
Decision Making: Ability to apply sound analysis and logic to reach practical, data driven solutions and decisions in a timely manner.
Relationship Management: The ability to build and use robust internal and external relationships developed through trust and collaboration.
Credibility and Communication: Ability to influence and interact effectively with people from different levels, perspectives and backgrounds.
