Mechanical Designer SR. -- ESP Completion Technologies

General Description

The Senior Mechanical Designer will provide support to the engineering team by producing original mechanical designs, detailed drawings, and other technical documentation. Other role responsibilities include supporting the manufacturing group as it relates to the product development cycle and sustaining current product offerings of ESP Completion Technologies. The individual must be able to work independently with little oversight in an efficient and broad manner covering multiple aspects of the product development cycle.

Essential Functions

  • Generate 3D models via CAD software and detail part and assembly drawings including all relevant geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Produce high quality drawings and documentation that meet industry standards and company requirements
  • Work with the engineering team to draft and complete detailed designs from written and verbal input
  • Perform routine engineering calculations including fit analysis and tolerance stack-ups
  • Ensure that manufacturing, assembly, installation, and operational requirements will be provided by the drawings and associated documentation produced
  • Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and maintain product data integrity by uploading all files into the Product Data Management (PDM) system and verifying accuracy
  • Maintain and champion product electronic database with regards to proper file structure, revision control, etc.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have strong solid parametric modeling background, preferably with SolidWorks
  • Must have experience creating detailed drawings and assembly drawings including proficiency in the application of ASME Y14 standards for manufacturing drawings
  • Experience or knowledge in manufacturing and fabrication methods
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work duties and follow through on action items
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact well at all levels
  • Ability to work well in a team environment is a must
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects at any given time
  • Good verbal and listening skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) 

Required Education and Experience

  • 5 plus years of experience in downhole oilfield equipment design
  • 2 year Associate Degree in technical field, or equivalent
