Mechanical Design Engineer II -- ESP Completion Technologies

General Description

The Mechanical Engineer II participates in developments of mechanical design and modeling, approves and completes testing of new product designs, conducts reliability assessments, evaluates Engineering Change Notices (ECN) for existing products, monitors design developments for maintaining quality compliance and assists in engineering, testing, and validation. Partners with senior mechanical engineer and manufacturing to assist in developing test methods, equipment acquisition for new product testing, validations/qualifications, statistical analysis of data for significance, and other documented requirements for quality objectives. Participates in new product development, establishes quality and reliability expectancy of finished products. Identifies, applies, and updates engineering and technical standards for devices, including standards compliance in product design, manufacture, and labeling. Participates in and reports on corrective actions. Assists audits of finished products, final inspections, returned and serviced products. 

Essential Functions

  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet client and ESPCT requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles
  • Generate 3D models via CAD software and detail part and assembly drawings including all relevant geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Produce high quality drawings and documentation that meet industry standards and company requirements
  • Work with the engineering team to complete detailed designs
  • Perform routine engineering calculations pertinent to design verification
  • Ensure that manufacturing, assembly, installation, and operational requirements will be provided by the drawings and associated documentation produced
  • Participate in and lead team efforts to continually improve the product development process.
  • Performs related work as required 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience or knowledge in manufacturing and fabrication methods
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work duties and follow through on action items
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact well at all levels
  • Ability to work well in a team environment is a must
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects at any given time
  • Good verbal and listening skills 

Required Education and Experience

  • BS in Engineering or related discipline with 3 plus years of relevant experience
  • Experience with PTC or SolidWorks Mechanical programs required; SolidWorks preferred
  • Experience in oilfield equipment design and testing
