Space Vehicle Mechanical Lead will be responsible for the design and development of complex mechanical systems for spacecraft applications. Candidate must have demonstrated experience performing detailed structural dynamics analysis including Coupled Loads Analyses, dynamics design support, mechanical environments derivation, and dynamic test design and execution for aerospace vehicle systems, structures, components, and payloads using standardized processes and tools. Candidate must have demonstrated experience managing interdependencies from, and to, supporting organizations, including thermal/mechanical analysis, spacecraft mechanical design and subcontracts. Excellent communications skills and ability to work in a team environment are required including providing supervision and mentoring of junior engineers. Demonstrated presentation skills in internal program management and customer forums.
Candidate must have Advanced Static/Structural Dynamics analysis capability using NASTRAN and finite element modeling using NX or equivalent. Further, candidate must have experience performing Spacecraft Dynamics Testing including; Modal, Acoustic, Random Vibration, and Shock testing. Candidate must have Spacecraft Mechanical Design experience including composite structures design and space vehicle configuration. Candidate must have demonstrated project leadership experience of a small group or team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. The ability to self-directed and to lead a small team.
Ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/poly clearance is required.
Ability to lead other engineers in a collaborative and highly integrated team environment. Ability and desire to lead a small team and assume ownership of tasks and drive to closure quickly and efficiently. Proficient in programming and use of MATLAB for analysis and data manipulation is desired.
Expertise with modern substructure modeling and assembly technology and component mode synthesis methods such as Craig-Bampton sub structuring. Expertise with vibration, acoustic, modal, and shock testing of aerospace vehicles and components. Design experience with composite and metallic. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with requirements identification, derivation, development, integration, verification, and validation.
Experience with CREO CAD modeling tool and EPDM.
Experience with Failure Investigation and analysis, and statistical analysis methods.
