The Flight Test Systems Design group is seeking an experienced mechanical/airframe design engineer for a design assignment working at Sikorsky?s Development Flight Center in West Palm Beach, FL. The selected candidate will be responsible for integration of instrumentation components on prototype and developmental aircraft with a focus on establishing structural configurations that meet customer requirements for performance, weight, producibility and cost. This individual must be able to work closely with a variety of engineering disciplines in a cooperative Product Development Team environment as well as outside suppliers.

The selected candidate will be responsible for creating concept, preliminary and detailed design packages that will be used to initiate fabrication/procurement requirements. Experience in coordinating requirements and interfaces, developing layouts, and interpreting and applying geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), stack-up, and gap analysis is required.

The selected candidate will be responsible for detail design of primary and secondary airframe structural, assemblies, and installations utilizing metallic and/or composite materials. Design experience creating detail, assembly, and installation drawings using CATIA V5, electronic bill of materials (BOMs), and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems is required. The ability to work with legacy data (e.g. mylars, 2-D CAD), as necessary, is also required.

The selected candidate will be responsible for providing engineering design support of manufacturing during part fabrication and installation.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 3 years of professional experience; or no experience required with a related Masters degree; or no Degree and 4 years of experience

Desired skills
The position requires 3 to 5 years of mechanical/airframe design experience in conceptual, preliminary and detail design.

Proficiency in CATIA V5 and LCA.

Proficiency with detail/assembly geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), gap analysis, stack-up, and drafting standards.
