About the Position:
Project Financial Analyst, Complex Capital Delivery is responsible for partnering with the Complex Capital Delivery project managers to manage capital Delivery performance. Works closely with the Finance Business Partner team to report complex capital project financial performance, identify trends and provide financial insight. Responsible for working with multiple stakeholders to drive the improvement of capital Delivery capability.
Reports to the Manager, Project Financial Analysis, Complex Capital Delivery
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Act as a trusted advisor to the project managers on a Day to Day basis
Review actual project costs incurred to ensure they are accurately represented in National Grid?s financial systems (SAP and PowerPlan) in line with accounting principles and project manager?s view
Assist the project managers in understanding key value drivers of cost to help drive, influence and support operational decision making
Proactively identify performance gaps and create innovative opportunities
Support and challenge project managers in the creation of monthly forecasts
Support project review meetings and address follow-Up requirements
Support project managers with completion of fixed asset additions and project closures in line with governance requirements
Liaise with internal and external auditors for all financial matters relating to projects
Ensure proper support to meet business requirements of financial and non-financial controls
Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience:
Project management
Capital reporting and analysis
Capitalization rules and accounting
Ability to analyse and provide insight on capital spending financial performance
Cross-functional business partnering
Qualifications Required:
Bachelor?s Degree; with a minimum of 5 years in finance roles with increasing scope and leading financial processes
Experience in financial management and financial and performance reporting
Strong ability to build cross-functional relationships to create and implement financial metrics and budgets
Finance systems and business process
Financial acumen and analytic skills
Strong ability to work across department and geographic boundaries
Ability to manage competing priorities through effective planning and execution skills
Advanced computer skills in MS Excel, MS Work, MS PowerPoint and MS Access; SAP knowledge required; PowerPlan knowledge preferred
Proficient written and oral communication skills
