ENGAGEMENT User INTERFACE (UI) JOB REQUIREMENT DESCRIPTION:

SAIC has an opportunity for an Engagement User Interface (UI) / User Experience (UX) Design Architect located in Kansas City, MO. This position will support a federal civilian government agency. The successful candidate will be a key member of a larger team that collectively supports the entire agency?s mission. The role requires a highly experienced UI/UX Architect to join a team that defines, plans, and leads a UX and creative design practice. This individual will participate in the re-design and UX architecture of multiple websites and web-based applications. They will also contribute to new standards for User Experience, modern design, and forward thinking toward next generation solutions (User centric, responsive, and mobile). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting enterprise systems (both custom-developed solutions and commercial packages) and will be comfortable managing client relationships and expectations within a highly complex political environment. The candidate must be flexible, patient, have a great attitude, and be willing to work outside of the box to accomplish the mission.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Architects and designs technical solutions and roadmaps needed to meet high-level business requirement.
- Leverages industry and organizational standards, patterns, frameworks, and best practices to develop architectures that enable fulfillment of business strategies
- Establish UX standards and guidelines using interactive and collaborative tools
- Collaborate with other government UX professionals for reuse and sharing of UX solutions
- Assist in introducing User centric Experience design methods for eliciting requirements and clarifying needs
- Review and advise on the work of designers and developers to ensure UX consistency
- Assist in introducing post-delivery UX field testing to understand how solutions are used and can be improved
- Establishes and fosters strong relationships with a broad audience of customers, service providers, vendor partners, technical peers and senior management
- Explains complex technical information to technical and non-technical contacts
- Effectively builds relationships, promotes a collaborative team environment, and influences stakeholders

Qualifications:
TYPICAL EDUCATION:

- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Experience in related technical discipline

- Ideally an M.A. / M.S. degree in cognitive psychology, experimental psychology, human factors, human computer interaction, etc.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- 10+ years of User Experience
- A strong web design or development background with an emphasis on UX
- Deep understanding of UX design patterns, design systems, and modern human factors guidelines
- Some exposure to Salesforce and working with UX across platforms
- A track record of understanding client needs, gathering requirements, and conveying them to technical staff
- A history of leading and delivering the processes needed to affect change within an organization within the UX and creative scope
- The ability to interface with the executive level, and transform wants into must haves into UX
- Mature visual design skills and a strong understanding of information hierarchy are absolutely critical
- Demonstrated knowledge of usability theory/principles
- Ability to present and persuade when communicating design
- Strong demonstrated visual, verbal and written communication skills to both technical and executive audiences
- Demonstrable understanding of web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, SASS, LESS, GitHub) and emerging frameworks and patterns (Angular, React, Material Design, etc.)
- Experience using Axure, Balsamiq, and other high-fidelity prototyping tools, as well as Photoshop, Sketch, and Illustrator
- Ability to obtain a government NACI background investigation
