Lockheed Martin is looking for a Firmware Engineer Sr in Owego, NY. The engineer will work in a cutting edge environment with relevant and game changing technologies. This exciting work will include architecting and designing computer hardware for advanced processing solutions. Specifically the candidate will be a lead firmware designer who will research, develop, and release design data for avionics platforms. This engineer will work with the rest of the development team to deliver the source data and perform initial integration and test of the prototype circuit board.
The engineer will apply advanced technical principles, techniques, theories and concepts. The engineer will contribute to the development of New principles and theories. The engineer will work on unusually complex technical problems and provides solution which are highly innovative and ingenious. Assignments are often self-initiated. The engineer will determine and pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results.
The engineer will research, design, develop, and test on a variety of electronic equipment and systems. Systems will include analog and digital computers, radar and radiation detection equipment and systems, circuitry components, and control and test equipment.
The engineer will have an electrical or computer engineering background. The engineer will have an opportunity to keep up-to-date on the latest developments and industry best practices.

Basic Qualifications for this position will include a BS Degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or closely related technical field or equivalent experience/combined education and 5 or more years of professional level experience. Experience with digital circuit / logic design, processor design & architecture. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
An MS level technical degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or closely related technical field may be desirable. Familiarity with FPGA programming using Verilog/VHDL is desired.
