Job Description Summary:
Plans and coordinates single or multiple small to medium capital projects that often require interdisciplinary engineering teams of 2 ? 5 engineers and cross functional business partners. Manages all aspects of scope development, cost estimates and schedule by collaborating both within the engineering organization as well as with cross functional business partners in a matrix organization. This position requires management of both external and internal resources and influencing cross functional stakeholders as well as effectively resolving issues and managing conflict. The candidate must have a good working knowledge of technology employed in the food industry and would also have an understanding of how the application of the technologies impacts their stakeholders. Exposure to structured gate processes to take a product from concept to production is essential. Minimum 5 years related experience.
Position Responsibilities:
This position requires a significant understanding of the business side of a Food Company as well as the ability to effectively com
municate with and lead cross functional resources.
This position reports directly to the Plant Engineering Manager
This position interacts frequently with Plant Leadership positions and Supply Chain Function
External interaction will include, however, not limited to, equipment vendors, construction contractors, engineering services contractors, local / state / federal government agencies, and co-manufacturing organization.
This person has demonstrated competency in both Engineering and Project Management.
Manages a range of small to medium projects.
Manages multiple project staffs of Up to 2 - 5 engineering professionals (may be a combination of Conagra and consulting engineers).
Executes assigned projects by utilizing workflows with Innovation, Operations and Platform Groups.
Executes project initiatives to ensure that all projects are completed to meet business needs. Responsible for ensuring that all project planning, deliverables, reporting, and spending forecasts are managed accurately and that all projects are delivered within cost, schedule and performance success criteria.
Leads and consults on change management of designated process or system (new product, new package, new system)
Improves system performance
Serves as key technical resource on process and product interaction in areas of Subject Matter Expertise.
Demonstrates strong troubleshooting skills through the use of continuous improvement techniques Demonstrate CAPD principles in solving unplanned performance outages of current and past projects. Show thorough understanding of the interactions between machine, materials, methods, environment and people to provide robust operating systems.
Continually proposes Capital Cost Reduction (CCR) projects to close System productivity gaps
Develops and delivers technical training for plant personnel as required. Assist in the development of playbooks and training materials, to ensure solid on-boarding of new employees in theory of operation in their area of responsibility.
Serves as a technology resource and coach for designated area of expertise.
Requirements:
BS or MS degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Food Engineering.
5+ years of total experience in Food Manufacturing (Pharmaceutical and CPG experience would be considered) with a minimum 2 years of experience executing projects (project size and complexity will be taken into consideration).
A track record of managing several capital projects and a progression through multiple roles in the Food Manufacturing industry is preferred.
Mechanical aptitude is a must?this position requires excellent troubleshooting skills and engineering creativity.
Excellent leadership qualities, verbal and written communication skills, technical analysis and Problem solving skills are required.
Strong relationship skills to achieve sustainable partnerships and collaboration internally and externally.
Proven track record in coaching, training and developing others; strong ability to relate to and motivate people at various levels
