This simulation and training Software Engineer will work in an aeronautics and military flight simulation environment. This exciting opportunity includes developing robust military full flight simulations, sensor simulations and training applications.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, have a can-do attitude, and be willing to take ownership and grow the capabilities of a very large, existing tactical environment. This position will provide an experienced Engineer the opportunity to apply their existing knowledge of physics, engineering, and Software development skills and grow domain knowledge in the area of tactical flight simulators (including aerodynamics, RADAR, jamming, landing aids, military communication protocols, basic flight maneuvers, tactics, artificial intelligence, etc.).
The Engineer will be expected to contribute to the development of new features and resolution of existing defects. This includes contributing to the creation of Software requirements/technical specification, implementation, test, and deployment. On some projects, candidate may perform independent Software Verification. The candidate will collaborate with teammates and other engineering disciplines, including: hardware engineers, systems engineers, human factors engineers, and program management.
Candidate will adhere to RMS Software development process and other industry standards. Strong analytical and trouble shooting skills required. The ability to work in a team environment is required.
The Locale: Owego, New York is located about 200 miles northwest of New York City and about 75 miles south of Syracuse New York. Owego sits just North of the border with Pennsylvania and is part of what's known as the "Southern Tier" section of New York State. The region is home to Binghamton University and Cornell University. Niagara Falls, NYC, & Philadelphia are all within a few hours? drive from Owego. Rolling hillsides, historic homes, quaint country shops, riverside restaurants, unique farm tours, fabulous festivals and a beautiful river make this region a great place to live.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
Software Development experience following Software Engineering principles and practices.
Proficient in object-oriented Software development using C/C++/C#, Java or other languages.
Strong analytical/debug and SW/HW integration and test skills.
Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to obtain a security clearance to at least the Secret level.
Experience writing Software for UNIX/Linux platforms.
Experience with PERL, SQL, XML, shell scripting.
Experience with Threat systems, Avionics systems, Sensor systems (ex., E/O, IR, RADAR, EW).
Familiarity with radio, weather, weapons, fly-out models, and/or aeronautical concepts.
Familiarity with Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), High Level Architecture (HLA), Computer Generated Forces (CGFs), Physics Based Systems.
Development in parallel processing environments (multi-threaded or multi-process).
Participation in formal Software testing, verification, and/or validation processes.
