The Tactical Communications Systems Department within the Space and Airborne Systems Center is the primary source of Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) equipment to the USAF. This team based at Aberdeen Proving Ground is responsible for the Architecture, Specification, Development, and Analysis of Mission Critical equipment in support of Military Air Traffic Control. Some aspects of this work are classified. The System Engineering group?s activities include; 1) developing coherent product specifications from multiple disparate source documents, 2) performing analysis of signals in space, receivers and transmitters, 3) developing simulations and analyzing the performance/impact of fielded equipment, 4) managing the requirements baseline and 5) ensuring all requirements are met.
In this position the successful candidate will be responsible for performing System Engineering activities as part of a multi-disciplined team of engineers developing new products and new capabilities for existing products. The product area is military grade avionics (specifically IFF). This is a non-supervisory role with a focus on technical expertise and performance. Direction is provided as specific tasks which are expected to be accomplished without appreciable direction. Completed work is reviewed as completed. This position holds the responsibility for completing assigned tasks on schedule while maintaining the highest levels of quality.
Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience in the specification, and realization of complex electronic hardware and software.
Must have excellent interpersonal, time management and communication skills in dealing with team members.
Strong judgment and decision making abilities, able to drive efforts to closure; able to effectively manage/coordinate multiple task and priorities.
Good working knowledge of the disciplined engineering processes, risk and opportunity identification.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance prior to commencing work
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
U.S. Citizenship and ability to access to US only data Systems.
Master?s Degree in a related Engineering field
Working knowledge or experience with Air Traffic Control Systems
Working knowledge of IFF Systems
Current experience with using System Engineering Tools (DOORS, Rhapsody, Simulink, Matlab)
Current experience with Information Assurance
Past experience with AIMSPO and/or FAA Certification process
Past experience with the development of Military radios or radar equipment
Past experience with production and sustainment programs
Basic knowledge of EVMS, IMS, & IMP tools for managing programs
Strong team building and motivational skills
Soft skills for teamwork and leadership.
Knowledge of Raytheon IPDS and Raytheon gating process.
Bachelor?s degree in System Engineering or a related engineering field
Master?s degree in System Engineering or a related engineering field
