MCVC at White Sands, NM is searching for a qualified candidate to join the Facilities Team to perform electrical, HVAC, and general facilities maintenance and janitorial tasks.

Job Description:

  • Perform a wide variety of electrical and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) tasks related to facilities construction, maintenance, and mission support.
  • Perform the operation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical heating, cooling, and ventilating equipment throughout the facility.
  • Maintain and repair electrical, heating and air conditioning equipment.
  • Designs, installs, and repairs electrical power requirements, wiring, conduit, cabling, and associated hardware.
  • Assists in the design and construction of electrical and air conditioning installation.
  • Perform job estimations for electrical wiring and HVAC installations.
  • Clean, maintain, and repair air conditioning, heating, and exhaust equipment, duct work, diffusers, grills, light fixtures, etc.
  • Perform standard service functions associated with facility moves and relocations.
  • Inspect finished work for quality and to ensure all work is accomplished in accordance with asset protection, fire, life safety, and electrical codes/specifications.
  • Perform construction, installation, improvement, maintenance, and repair operations on all types of facility and production equipment including recovery and charging of systems.
  • Provide off-site electrical power equipment set-up and check-out in support of mission site set up.
  • Provide oversight, training, and guidance to subordinate and peer craft employees to facilitate cross training and job diversity.
  • Travel to remote sites or international locations to perform job requirements.
  • Ability to work in remote and hazardous location with energized equipment, radar radiation hazards, and unexploded ordinance.
  • Required to perform facilities maintenance tasks; custodial duties, landscaping, basic repair/modifications, troubleshooting, and all other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Six (6) years’ experience as an electrician working with energized systems as well as HVAC installation and maintenance.
  • Experience with mechanics, electricity, electronics, HVAC, National Electrical Code (NEC), and other applicable state/federal codes/regulations.
  • Experience with operation of related tools, equipment, and machinery.
  • Physical demands include climbing, lifting 25 lbs. and carrying equipment.
  • Must possess valid state driver’s license.

Desired Skills:

  • Eight (8) years’ experience as an electrician working with electrical and HVAC systems.
  • Associate’s degree in HVAC, trade school certification or OJT journeyman level certification.
  • State electrical contractors license or master electrician certification.
  • Communicate effectively, work in a team environment, meet deadlines, multi-task and able to work across disciplines to include janitorial.
  • Current arc flash training certifications
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL).
  • Required: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
