Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer II to support multiple programs in El Segundo, CA. The selected candidate will be responsible for the design and analysis of electro-optical sensor hardware. The engineer in this position must be able to help develop requirements, lead trade studies and evaluate supplier proposals and data. The position requires strong CAD and geometric tolerancing (GD&T) skills and the ability to work with cross-functional engineering teams involving optics, structural analysis, thermal management and precision mechanical mounting. The selected engineer is responsible for understanding the design requirements, coordinating mechanical design, preparation of design reviews, presentation of the engineering to Raytheon management as well as customers.
Minimum of 6 years of experience performing mechanical design
Expertise with commercial CAD software, such as Creo, Solidworks, or Unigraphics
Geometric Tolerancing (GD&T)
Expertise with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey highly technical material in a clear and concise format to a general audience
Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
Ability to obtain a SSBI
Knowledge of PTC Design products (Creo, Windchill, Mechanica)
Prior experience in Defense or Aerospace
Possess an active DoD Security Clearance
Possess an existing SSBI
Bachelor?s degree (BA, BS) in Mechanical Engineering or related field from accredited university.
Master?s degree (MS) in Mechanical Engineering or related field from accredited university.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs the candidate to be able to obtain a DoD U.S. Security Clearance.
This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons.
