This excellent and exciting position is with our Advanced Development Program known as Skunk Works out of Palmdale California with assignment to a CONUS home base. Candidates must be willing to travel and work periodically at austere remote locations to support Customer requirements. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport, accept customer furnished quarters and comply with mobility requirements such as chemical warfare training and receive applicable vaccinations. The selected candidate will be subjected to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to highly classified information. Must pass an Overseas physical and meet customer required medical screenings.
The Field Engineer is considered an overall expert with an extensive technical knowledge of aircraft avionics and communication systems, system operation and system performance. An integral member of the technical team responsible for overseeing a complex mission system during operations. Confers with a broader technical team regarding anomalies in system operation and is responsible for troubleshooting and providing solutions. Must have knowledge of network systems configuration; familiarity with Ethernet network protocols, directing network systems installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards. Maintains network performance by building net configurations and connections; troubleshooting network problems; scheduling upgrades; and collaborating with network architects on network optimization. Other desirable skills include software background and education.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are needed to support the on-site Customer, explain and resolve issues arising from operations and / or maintenance activities, and attend or run debriefings to aid in the rapid identification of emerging issues. Document operational / maintenance problems to ensure the company is apprised of and can identify failure trends. Manage and track multiple engineering and logistics support activities, providing periodic status to Customer and Program Management. Positively contribute to a small, agile, cohesive team.
The candidate will be required to operate, service and maintain support equipment. Identify unique operational problems that require technical, procedural, or quality assurance actions to resolve. Provide training, as requested, to customer personnel. Must have comprehensive avionics systems background / experience. Must be able to work with and interact with the Customer as well as Program Engineers.
The applicant selected will be subjected to Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for program access. Selected applicant must meet minimum medical requirements, which includes a company overseas physical. This position will require an active Top Secret security clearance with a current SBI. The candidate must agree to and successfully pass a polygraph examination.
**Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.**
- Experience in a field environment
- Experience with discrepancy analysis/resolution at the system and subsystem level
- Experience with drawing/schematic reading/interpretation & fault isolation
- Active Top Secret Clearance with Background Investigation within the last five years
- Cost, Schedule and Quality management supporting MRO activities
- Technical report writing

- Knowledge of the Integrated Logistics Support concepts
- Bachelor or above Degree
