Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems is seeking a candidate with extensive Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) expertise to manage and develop a segment of their Space Systems business area. The position involves strategic planning and development of technology roadmaps, including collaborating with multiple on-going pursuits, in order to merge and create markets for existing technologies.

The candidate will be able to effectively work within a team environment, and positively contribute to the overall business development and Space Systems growth goals. As a technical leader, the candidate will expand and influence program development by working closely with the other technical lead engineers, to set future technology and process direction for the program. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must; the candidate will generate and contribute to proposals and white papers, as well as represent Raytheon technical capabilities at various Customer and Raytheon sites.

The ideal candidate is an experienced software development engineer, effective communicator, task leader, and technical decision maker. Also, the candidate should have experience mentoring junior engineers and leading either all-software or cross-functional engineering teams.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Required Skills:

  • 12+ years participating in full development cycle for complex electronic systems.
  • BS Degree from an accredited university, Major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience presenting to and interfacing with customers and management.
  • Provide technical leadership through all phases of the development cycle.
  • Manage cost and schedule on existing contracts and develop acquisition/contracting strategy leveraging current capabilities for future products.
  • Familiarity with development of complex systems for air and missile defense capabilities, using emerging capabilities and existing radar, command and control, and missile systems.
  • Lead OPIR architecture studies and proposals, including development of system specifications.
  • SCI with in-scope SSBI within 5 years
    Top Secret with in-scope SSBI investigated within 5 years.
Desired Skills:
  • Develop alternative architectures for current and future OPIR customers, utilizing high re-use and other cost competitive approaches.
  • Experience with a wide customer base in both fielding of systems and training operations.
  • Experience developing and maintaining ground processing systems.
  • Experience replacing legacy Space systems with next generation capabilities.
  • Familiarity with OPIR ground systems.
