The Senior Software Developer will be a seasoned web and mobile application developer who has extensive experience with development of presentation (GUI); security; application; and database layers. This is an evolving opportunity seeking to employ cutting edge web applications to increase efficiency and performance supporting Special Operations Forces. The successful candidate will be motivated; team oriented; and have a drive to make a difference in warfighting capabilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Focus on web applications and Android/iOS/ mobile platforms
  • Provide full lifecycle software development to include requirements gathering; design; development; testing; documentation; training; configuration; and maintenance of developed software projects
  • Maintain existing custom-developed software; and support COTS/GOTS software products as needed
  • Help evolve the software development methodology based on agile and lean thinking; including the establishment of coding conventions; documentation standards; testing procedures and quality assurance
  • Work with IT professionals to coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues and communicate changes
  • The work is performed in an office environment
  • Possible short term TDYs to meet with users

Required Skills:

  • Experience in one or more of the following: Java; JavaScript; Python; Ruby; Objective-C; Swift
  • Automated testing experience; writing and testing with tools, such as Appium and GitLab CI/CD pipeline.
  • Experience developing web-based applications; utilizing HTML5/JavaScript/CSS
  • Understanding of responsive design techniques and mobile web clients
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of at least some of the following: UI/UX design; MVC; SQL; RESTful web services; mobile app development; and Ajax methodologies
  • Experience in developing cloud hosted applications: Amazon Web Services cloud preferred
  • Experience working in an agile environment (Kanban and Scrum)
  • Innovation: Always looking for ways to integrate new technology to solve problems and fill in capability gaps. Demonstrated expertise selecting and utilizing open source products in applications and solutions
  • Working knowledge of software development tools such as Redmine; JIRA; and GitHub/GitLab
  • Requires a good working knowledge of information systems and applications in a DevOps environment; including Linux (Red Hat); Windows Server 2008R2; Apache; and PostgreSQL
  • Good business communication skills. Position will require developing and giving presentations
  • Detail oriented and organized; able to understand information systems and ensure accuracy of work
  • Air Force and/or DOD background a plus

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience.

  • 8-10 years of related software development experience
  • DoDI 8570.01m CSSLP Certification required within 6 months of hire
