Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Safety Inspector is responsible for implementation of action plans and process improvements ensuring DI personnel and subcontractors are performing their work in accordance with the assigned task order, subcontract and established Safety and Quality criteria. Focuses on the performance of safety and occupational health surveillance, inspections and safety enforcement for the program.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
  • Works with the in-country operation staff to implement corrective actions and other improvements identified through quality assurance, safety, third party, and customer audits/evaluations.
  • Assists management and Q/A coordinators in performing internal audits at various site locations throughout assigned region.
  • Conduct and document process and system audits using written procedures and the Statement of Work (SOW) as audit reference standards.
  • Remains on location until full implementation has occurred and revisits this location and/or process to validate corrective actions.
  • Remains in constant communication and reports progress to in-country quality management.
  • Conducts quality, safety, environmental and health inspections, completes reports and maintains a written log and electronic log which includes area/operations inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective action, estimated and actual dates or corrections.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and HAZMAT practices.
  • Broad knowledge of ISO-9001, 1400.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principals preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge and Life and Fire Safety regulations (NFPA) preferred.
  • Excellent communication, effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of various computer programs required (i.e. Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate fluently in the English language.
  • May be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, including extreme weather conditions, travel in and around military operations, and rudimentary infrastructure.
  • Additional knowledge/skills may be required by contract or assignment.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor?s or Associates degree in science related discipline or equivalent related experience.
  • Three (3) or more years? experience in quality/safety role. Work in similar OCONUS projects preferred.
  • Quality, Safety and Health certifications preferred. 
  • Ten (10) or more hours of OSHA certification preferred.
  • Additional experience/education may be required by contract or assignment.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Assigned to overseas locations where living and working conditions at assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable, with long hours, exposure to weather, dust, and hazardous/harsh conditions.
