Advanced Missile System – Advance Hypersonic Weapons Systems (AHWS) has an immediate opening for a Finance Manager. AHWS is developing a portfolio of high speed missiles that will play a pivotal role in the future battlespace. Products include High Speed Air-Breathing Weapons, Boost Glide Weapons, Advanced Threat Missile Defeat and other advanced technologies, concepts and enablers. Hypersonic capabilities are a national priority with long-term funding allocated in the USA President’s Five Year Budget. This position is a growth opportunity to learn exciting new technologies while managing a large program that will make Raytheon the premier provider of offensive and defensive solutions to the warfighter. Due to the nature of the technologies, the candidate will need to be able to secure security clearance.

The Financial Manager will provide financial direction on a three year program valued at $300M+ that includes capital, company investment and government contracts. Being a key and visible program in the Hypersonic portfolio, the selected candidate will need polished presentation skills when communicating to various levels of leadership including the AMS product line, Missile Systems and Raytheon corporate.
A key requirement for this position is the ability to provide strategic financial leadership for the program in areas such as cost management, program execution, and customer reporting. An in-depth working knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) concepts, procedures and processes, including baseline planning and Integrated Baseline Review (IBR) preparation and execution is also required. Responsibilities of the Business Manager include the coordination and preparation of the Program’s Five Year and Annual Operating Plans, quarterly Estimate at Completion presentations, monthly financial forecasts, monthly financial status and variance analysis reporting to the customer and AMS Product Line leadership.

The Finance team consists of 1-2 reporting analysts from various skill levels and stages in their careers that work together to support all aspects of the program’s business management needs.
Interested candidates must have prior Finance Management experience along with a proficiency in Finance reporting systems and processes. The successful candidate will have the ability to work relatively independently, be self-motivated, comfortable with new challenges. Ability to develop effective and respectful partnerships with the Program Office, Contracts, Supply Chain, Engineering, and customer are critical for success in this position.

General Disciplines and Responsibilities

Financial Planning:

  • Forecasting of key financial metrics at the program level (including Bookings/New orders, Sales, Earnings and Cash)
  • Executive-level summary and communication of monthly / quarterly / annual results, forecasts and Earned Value
  • Capital Expenditure, IR&D and strategic investment assessment

Program Business Analysis:
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis of resources for current and future orders
  • Variable and fixed labor assessment to determine optimal manpower levels
  • Material related sales and supplier cost management
  • Earned Value Management reporting and analysis
  • Risk and Opportunity valuation and impact on contract profitability
  • Annual and 5-Year Business Planning

Minimum Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business (finance, accounting or economics preferred), or mathematics, or related field and minimum 8 years professional experience in business or MBA and 6 years of related experience
  • Very knowledgeable of program control responsibilities which include meeting internal requirements such as coordinating budgetary agreements, preparing EACs and monthly forecasts
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) concepts, procedures and processes, including baseline planning and Integrated Baseline Review (IBR) preparation and execution
  • Strong experience with Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas)
  • Proven able to meet critical deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and experience working within teams
  • Working knowledge of financial planning concepts, processes, and systems (RPlan, Program on a Page)
  • Must be able to obtain a secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Highly Desired Skills:
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Preference given to candidates having used MPM, APEX EV, wlnsight and other EVM tools
  • Prior Finance Team Lead experience, with demonstrated experience effectively leading/motivating/developing team members
  • Ability to ensure program performance to plan and early identification of potential problem areas along with development and implementation of corrective actions
  • Ability to quickly assimilate into the Program and become influential within the program/product line
