Job Description:
The Hardware Center Test Automation Department, is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to implement common test automation solutions for programs and capital projects.

The Electronic Warfare group is currently seeking a System Test Equipment (STE) Software Development Engineering leader to join our dynamic and growing engineering team. This position will report to the Electronic Warfare STE SPS /IPEWS Section Manager at Raytheon Point Engineering Center, Point Mugu, California. The candidate will provide technical software and hardware support to ALR-67(V)3 PBL Sustainment Team and other development programs as follows:

The STE Software Development - candidate will be responsible for supporting and providing leadership to a diverse team of engineers applying the latest technology and concepts in design, development and integration of System Test Equipment software for EW programs. He/she is also responsible to analyze requirements and customer proposed operating parameters in support of engineering proposals and related technical documents to determine feasibility of developing new equipment or modifying existing equipment, provide support for new/follow-on business proposals and be responsible to translate system test requirements in to cost proposals. The candidate will also act as a trusted liaison to management on all technical issues associated with STE proposals, and will also perform technical interface with the customer.

The candidate will also support PBL sustainment activities, applying innovative solutions to complex technical problems associated technical trouble shooting of existing STE software and hardware, and be responsible to verify that all delivered STE products meet all program and customer requirements on a continuous basis. This may include occasional travel to manufacturing facilities in support of operations activities.

Required Skills:

  • Detailed knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, including the engineering principles associated with test hardware and general purpose/special test equipment development.
  • Cost and Technical Proposal experience
  • Experience developing, executing and leading integration and test activities on airborne systems.
  • Proven technical leadership in a complex system engineering development environment.
  • Strong organization, coordination, planning and teaming skills along with excellent oral and written communication.
  • Minimum of 8 years of system (hardware) engineering, system integration, testing or related experience
  • Must be able to readily obtain, a DOD Secret security clearance within a year of employment
  • Experience in utilization and programming of COTS test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes , frequency analyzers)
  • Experience with any of the following software programs C/C++, JAVA, Labview and ADA
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Desired Skills:
  • EVMS certification & Program Execution experience
  • Internal and external Customer interface experience.
  • Experience with tactical EW systems and execution of flight testing related activities
  • Familiar with DOORs requirements verification tool
  • Ability and willingness to mentor and provide career development direction to junior engineers.

Required Education:
  • BS Engineering, Mathematics or Applied Physics from an ABET approved college or university and 8 years (minimum) of experience in Systems Software and/or Hardware Engineering
