Job Description Opportunities exist within the Missile Defense Radar Software Department in Woburn for a Section Manager.

The Missile Defense Radar Software Department mission is to provide world class Radar Software to be used in the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) and other software related to Missile Defense
Systems. The department currently supports multiple
AN/TPY-2 radars throughout the world, the Sea-Based XBand Radar, COBRA DANE, and several Upgraded Early Warning Radars. A major ongoing effort is to re-host the radars to a Linux based operating system, and to then upgrade all systems over the next several years.
New software efforts include a dual band program and an Early Warning Radar for Qatar. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a diverse workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms.

Job Description:
The Missile Defense Radar Software Department Section
Manager will reside in the Missile Defense Center (MDC) in Woburn, MA, and will provide guidance, leadership and management to a section of 15 to 20 Engineers. The candidate will act as a key leader and mentor in the department, employing their leadership, presence and influence skills, and fostering team work and interdependent execution.
The Section Manager will participate in goal setting, interim performance reviews, department ranking sessions, interviewing new candidates, and provide recommendations for staff promotions.
The successful candidate will participate in a technical/lead role on our software development programs.

Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for the sustainment, assessment and development of the section
Ensure Section members adhere to Raytheon policy, vision, values and goals
Communications Flow-Down to the section
Performance development including collecting and providing performance feedback to section members.
Goal Development with section members
Career and job assignment mentoring
Technical Leadership in software development, integration, or test.

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years experience in technical software design and development on defense software development programs
  • Experience in software development using C, C++, Ada Experience in functional or program leadership role
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a SECRET Security Clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a clearance.

  • Proven skills in leadership and management
  • High energy, self ? starting team player who achieves goals and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact with subordinates, customers, and other Raytheon organizations
  • Prior experience in functional or program leadership role
  • Radar domain knowledge (AN/TPY-2, XBR, SRP,
  • Software Cost estimation experience

Required Education (including Major):
B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
