Job Description: The successful candidate will design, draft, and layout 3D models of complex electrical and mechanical designs. As a Sr, Drafting / Design Associate, the candidate will work in a dynamic team environment with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and scientists. The candidate must have experience utilizing solid modeling, be knowledgeable in ASME Y14.5 drafting standards and have the ability to work within established company standards. The candidate will be responsible for technical coordination with engineers and scientists and will be expected to work with technical direction from other team members and provide support for the development of design solutions.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical design of components in pulsed power and high power microwave systems.
    • microwave tubes
    • vacuum systems
    • oil circulation
    • pressurized gas systems
    • control systems
    • platform interfaces
  • Collaborate and coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists, technicians, and support staff
    • Coordinate with physicists and engineers to determine system requirements
    • Coordinate with mechanical engineers to develop and review designs and interface with other mechanical systems
    • Coordinate with electrical engineers to develop and review designs and interface with other electrical systems
    • Support and participate in team meetings, design reviews, engineering review boards, and configuration control boards
    • Coordinate with team leadership (program management, chief engineer, sub-team leads) to develop costs and schedules and to assess technical risks and opportunities

Required Skills and Education:

4 years experience utilizing 3D CAD and drafting standards

High School diploma, Associate Degree in CAD Technology, or equivalent

Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

Desired Skills and Education:

Bachelor?s Degree in CAD Technology

Experience with ASME Y14.5

Experience with development of drawing packages leading to the detailed layout and construction of complex designs

Ability to work effectively in a multi-task, team environment

Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work with minimal supervision

Experience with Solidworks and/or ProE

Experience with Tolerance Analysis

Experience with Configuration Management

Experience designing high power microwave systems, pulsed power and/or HPM systems
